Hands down one of the best bakeries in town, this little coffee shop serves fair-trade coffee, breakfast burritos and fresh baked goods ranging from scones and muffins to more exotic daily fare like mint-cheesecake domes, fruit tortes, peach cobbler and focaccia with tofu whip.
Visitors can find nearly everything under the sun at Midtown Global Market, a super store straddling the globe to offer up everything from clothing to baked goods. Specialty groceries stock fresh produce and ethnic food--from Asian to Swedish--and restaurants serve up delicious and unique fare from the Caribbean to Bangkok.
This beloved pizza joint on Chicago Avenue just got a makeover, but the pizza, pasta and garlic bread are classically Jakeeno's--loaded with fresh ingredients, plenty of cheese and Jakeeno's famous spicy-sweet sauces.
A little "dive bar" on Cedar Avenue, Matt's Bar has blown up: Thanks to the Jucy Lucy (a burger with melted cheese in the center), Matt's Bar is now famous for this molten concoction that has lunch and dinner crowds salivating. This little movie store located across the street from the May Day Cafe is loaded with old-school charm in all the best ways: The owner, Tim, is almost always there to offer up recommendations. And neighborhood kids stop in, loaded with excitement, searching for the latest releases and a bag of sour worms.
