YUMMM. I keep driving by this place so I decided to go in and try their lunch buffet one afternoon during my lunch break. I brought my co- workers along too since they were craving chinese. The food always came out fresh and I didn't have to eat any gross food that sits at the buffet all day. Ping's has one buffet bar, but everything on it was really good. Because it IS small, all the food, such as fried rice, potstickers, lo mein, cream cheese puffs, sesame chicken, and chicken wings were nice and hot. This is one of my favorite places to go for lunch with my co- workers now, and when I attend conventions at the convention center. Their location is so convenient, I just walk a few minutes and I get to eat the best chinese on eat street.
Best Chinese Delivery in MPLS!!!. Pings was SO much better than Star Dragon (other Chinese delivery option in Minneapolis). They had quality meats and seafood, flavorfull dishes and fresh veggies. We had singapore noodles and 8 treasures-stir-fry, both listed under "Pings Specialties" on the menu. We also had an app, veggie potstickers, which were OKAY, next time I'll try the eggrolls. Best of all they deliver right to your door, so no complaints here.
An OK place.
I went to Ping's on the recommendation of a friend. I love cream cheese wontons, so I tried these that said they had curry in them. BE WARNED! There is not much else but curry in them.
The cashew chicken is delicious, with honey roasted cashews in the mix, and the sweet and sour isn't bad either.
The decor is semi-fancy, so could be a good date place, or a nice place to hang out with friends. They have a big bar inside, though I haven't tried the drinks. Still the only Chinese that delivers in Loring!
Unprofessional service, average food.. We came here on a weekday evening and I was pleased when we were warmly greeted and shown to a table. We were however disappointed with the unprofessional service from our waitstaff with the abrupt personal questions, incessent humming and dropping of silverware, and thumbs on our plates they were passed out. The food is decent but Chinese food is better had at other locations on Nicollet in Minneapolis.
This downtown institution offers dependable Chinese cooking in a setting straight out of the '80s..
In Short
The retro pink-and-gray '80s interior is enhanced by languid koi swimming in tanks, kite-like rice paper art hang over the tables. This isn't the go-to place for authentic Chinese cooking, but it does have a certain Bali Hai charm. The large menu features Szechuan, Hunan and Cantonese dishes executed to suit American tastes. Marinated beef is roasted on skewers with pineapple and cherries. The fresh sen sen soup is one of the healthiest menu options.
They deliver.
**I only order delivery from here**
The food is passable, but barely. The prices are WAY out of range, but... they're the only Chinese place that delivers this far on Eat Street. If you don't mind getting in your car and driving a handful of blocks south, there are a bunch of places around 24th Street to 28th Street that are WAY better.
Ping's - the only delivery in MPLS..
Ping's, a loaded question posing as a restaraunt in MPLS. Just say "Ping's" and folk who live downtown will either swoon or swear. Personally, I swear.
Squatting like a sugar-coated buddha on prime real-estate on Eat-Street, Ping's looks like a throw back to 1970's era chinese restaurants. But once you get past that facade, you find yourself shocked into the new millenium by prices that seem to laugh at you.
Ping's is the only widely known chinese food delivery place. My normal order is egg foo young and the appetizer platter. That is $26. If you want fish sauce for your egg roll, add $1. They actually charge you for fish sauce, and not just a little, but one dollar.
The food is tasty, which owes much to the "no spices and lots of sugar" school of cooking. I wouldn't compare Ping's to McDonald's, but, welll....yeah, I guess I am.
Great food with OUTSTANDING service!. I have been a cusomer at Ping's since 1989. While the food is fantastic, the service that I have received has always been cheerful and attentive. The employees always greet customers cordially. My favorite dish is the Frangrant Beef with Broccoli.
Only if you want asian delivery.. Fairly expensive, bland taste, mediocre (at best) service, tacky out-dated atmosphere BUT they deliver. So, if you're like me (so over driving to take out), order Pings. It's alright food.
Great experience. Tried Ping's last night not knowing anything about it. The food was great but the waitstaff was even better. Visited the Oceanaire fairly recently and can definitely say that their waiters could learn a thing or two from Ping's. Thanks for the great evening.
