What People Are Saying About Acme Comedy Company

Acme Comedy Club is the springboard for up-and-coming comics. This Warehouse District comedy club is a Minneapolis staple. Up-and-coming national acts set their sights on this 250-seat club and local comics wet their wings in this brick-lined basement, both on open-mic nights and as openers for bigger names. The seats are assigned with every ticket purchase, even for walk-ins, so there’s no awkward jockeying for seats before shows. And every seat is a good seat. In fact, Acme is cozy and intimate that, on good nights, it can feel like you’re all at a party together. Mixed drinks come in…

I made reservations through ticketweb for a larger party to attend the performance. The manager, John, was absolutely rude to myself and my guests. Upon arrival they first said that they didn't have any seats for us because we weren't there before 10pm. Then, when I pointed out to the staff that we had already paid for the tickets over a month ago they quickly put together seating for us. This was all fine except for the fact that the placed half of our group BEHIND A POLE in the middle of the theater!! When I went to talk to John again to try and figure out other options for seating he was rude, with no apology or accomodations. Now, myself and my significant other, who was having his 30th birthday that night, love Mitch Fatel. However, we could have done just as well to listen to him on XM Radio as all that we could see throughout the show was his hand occasionally from behind the pole. We will certainly not be attending comedy at Acme again and the 8 other guests and their friends probably won't either. It is too bad because I enjoy comedy.
management state "we don't want you..."

After going to this club almost 100 times, 90 to be exact, one show was terrible, that's bound to happen, but this was beyond terrible, it was over the top. I wrote an email to management to cal lans discuss what had happened, after writing 2 emails, he finally returned a call- at noon, on a sunday, to my office line- I jsut happened to be in. He immediatley was on the defensive, bad mouthing how I didn't understand comedy, I "must not be a very fun or funny guy, how I just didn't get it." I must not have, nor the other 50 people that walked out of the show. David Feldman was the comic that night, he was picking on pregnanat women in audience staing they were "whor**," security had to restain one guy b/c he would talk back and stand up for himself- he as not out of line in doing so. When the manager called, he was rude, interupted, was swearing, stated "acme doesn't want customers like you"... like me? I guess they don't want patons that go every other week, talk good about the club... I returned by saying "if you don't want good clients, I won't come back- I couldn't treat MY clients like that..... that's business sir" his return comment "F*** you" and hung up.... great way to treat you customers!
- Pros: opening acts
- Cons: management is rude to clients, main acts ussually are not that great

I first went to Acme when I saw it on NBC'S Last Comic Standing and I wasn't disappointed. The staff, comedy, atmospere was wonderful, and I felt a little cheeky and a bit smug about finding this jewel in my back door. I recommend this for anyone with a sense of humor, and an appetiete for great food and drinks!
- Pros: Funny, great food and drinks, get to see people from tv in a live uncensored setting
- Cons: great drinks, infact too good, I didn't want to leave
