True Mexican in a hole in the wall off Nicolette Avenue--Eat Street..
Just down Nicollette Avenue prior to running into the back of the K-Mart on Lake Street, this Restaurant lies hidden behind a Mexican Supermarket and Bakery. It really looks like a hole in the wall but upon entering it really feels like you have left the US and have ended up in Mexico.
The food is authentic(I have eaten a lot of Americanized Mexican food). I visit Mexico every year with my wife(Neovo Progresso) and the food at this resturant rivals any we have eaten there. The service for the most part has been good and the food as spicy hot as we want it to be.
Share a plate with a friend and get a good sampling of the dishes available. The appetizers are more than enough for a meal. They serve a mexican soup that I have seen eaten by locals but we have not sampled it.
Enjoy!

Are you kidding?. Ate here on 5/25/04 based on the "Top 10" recommendation on this site. Not only would I NEVER go back but I wanted to run as soon as I tasted the chips. Has anyone ever eaten at Little Tijuana -- this is THE BEST Mexican food probably in the 5-state area and am only sorry I strayed (forgive me) to try this recommendation. Not even the inclusion of alcohol makes this place worthwhile. I don't think I have ever eaten such bland, re-heated and impossibly tasteless food in my life -- but then I haven't been to London yet. Adios!
good value, delicious food. The food was wonderful here. Very carefully prepared and authentic. A pleasant environment and excellent and friendly service. The only minus is its unattractive location in a strip mall on Nicollet, I would prefer it to be on the street.
Diamond in the rough!. Hidden in the back of a seedy parking lot, we almost couldn't find the place but I'm glad we were persistent. Clean, friendly, authentic and cheap describe this place and the food was outstanding. Lunch was a great value and there is a large kids menu. Live music on the weekends is a plus. The only weakness was slow service. We were seated after 3 other tables and received our meals first. In fact, we had finished and the 3rd table still had not yet received their meal. Other than the service issue, this place is a real find and will definitely get my repeat business.
Authentic, south-of-the-border fare that has escaped Northern influences..
The Scene
Although it's literally located in a hole in the wall (in a strip mall parking lot), inside it's quite lively and comfortable, with shiny oak tables and sunny gold walls. Latin pop music plays when a mariachi band isn't entertaining the guests. Service is excellent.
The Food
Hyped-up Americanized Mexican it's not. The menu offers dishes that are authentic, often simple and usually full of flavor. Quesadillas, as a starter or entree, are delightfully light, packed with cilantro and zingy with lime. The log of a burrito is stuffed with good chicken or beef and makes for a filling meal. Those with a taste for fire should opt for the pollo diabla-- blazing with a red, hot sauce. The hidden treasure is the enchilada verde--some heat, yes, but lime brightens and balances the dish. For a sweet end, a lovely, creamy flan with caramel sauce is tops.
FUN!. The food is really good and it's cheap! Plus if you are lucky you can hear a mariachi band play live while you're eating lunch.
