It's the most fun when they have the disco ball spinning and music playing. Snacks and rentals are a bit more than I'd like to pay, but the atmosphere and fun you have are worth it.
Families and large groups lace up their skates and hit the ice at this Minneapolis landmark..
In Short
After 20 years of sitting empty and unused, the historic 1899 Milwaukee Road Depot was brought back to life in 2000--with an enclosed, year-round figure skating rink. Located in half of a 600-foot-long renovated train shed, the rink has special lighting, a high-quality sound system, and glass walls that allow natural light and curious passers-by to peer in. Renovations and construction have also yielded two hotels and an indoor water park.
Winter Enjoyment Downtown.
The Depot's Indoor Ice Skating Rink is a blast! When I went, they were sponsoring a United Way Donation and by bringing in any winter gear, you skated for FREE! This was impressive and drew a large crowd! In addition to this, even while being so busy, we were able to lace up and get on the ice in no time. This is a great place for winter enjoyment or romance.
Afterwards, we walked over to Charley's Restaurant at the Courtyard for dinner. The food was excellent!
You like to skate? Skate here!.
It's a fun place to skate during your lunch hour. Good ice, friendly staff, nice skate rentals, some food... Kids galore during the day but evening skating is better with far less people. $12+ for skate rental and parking during the day can get expensive if you go several times a week so it's a good idea to walk/bike and own your own skates...
A fun place for a date too (that is, if they can skate...).
