Editorial Review for Machine Shed Restaurant – by Annamarie Cumpston

In Short
Suburbanites and folks wearing Wranglers and cowboy boots mill about the gift store and farming museum before they're seated in the large dining room. The tall, black, wooden booths comfortably fit families. Pitchers of ice water on each table are a nice touch. Everything here is big, starting with the chicken tenders encased in ranch-dressing batter. Pork is in abundance at this Iowa import, and he Combine, overwhelms with three treatments of it.

Any item on the menu with a little pig beside it can be turned into a kid-sized portion. The chicken fingers are a kiddie favorite.

Great environment, large portion sized food, and delicious! Lots of seating space, great service! Great prices. What more could you ask for?!

When you walk in the door you are entering a small store of fun. You can get souveniers or things for your home like cookbooks and colorful drain stoppers. The wait is not generally long but you have something to do if you have to wait. The dining room has many antique decor, lining the walls. The servers are well informed and friendly. The dining experience is awesome. You get homemade breads, coleslaw and cottage cheese to snack on while you wait for you food. The smoked prime rib is most definately a good choice. It has a very distinct flavor that I have never seen anywhere else. The portions are plenitful and prices are more than reasonable. I have never made it to the desserts because the food was too good to save for later.

Pros: menu, service

Cons: lighting

Large portions, homespun cooking and no regard for fat grams. Be prepared to loosen your belt.  See the full editorial review.
