In Short – The local regulars have their favorites: carne asada, enchiladas poblanos. Yet those new to this ever-popular cantina can down an entire Corona before getting through the lengthy menu. Specializing in traditional Tex-Mex (quesadillas and fajitas) and authentic Mexican (pork carnitas with tortillas, rice and beans), it's a big draw for suburban families out for cheap, kid-friendly eats. While the budget-conscious, under-30 set order up a Texas margarita and call this place a great Saturday-night date.
good food, bad service

The food there is very good. The service on the other hand is horrible, half the people don't speak english, they charge you 3 dollars for an extra little cup of sour cream,salsa,or guacamole.They act like some one died, and the food gave me the stomach flu.
- Pros: ok food
- Cons: bad service
Burritos Rancheros A++

If you want someone to ask you how you want your meat then you don't want real authentic Mexican food. I don't usually go out for Mexican food since I can get it at my mom's, but when my husband & I want to go out we go to El Loro. I always get the Burritos Rancheros & the Mexican ice cream. The servings are Grande, most times I have left over for lunch the next day.
YUCK!!!!

My sister-in-law lived in the Valley in TX for 19yrs. We went yearly to see her. We have eaten at several Tex Mex places and in the Mexican border town's of Progresso and Madamoris.Whoever said this was authentic is crazy. The guacamole wasn't homemade! The waitress even said they don't make it. The food was so bland. One of the waitress's looked and acted like someone just died. The margarita's are from a mix and nasty! The Corona was warm. When you order they don't ask you what meat choice you want in your burrito or enchilada's. The menu doesn't tell what meats in the dish or that your meal is covered in white sauce that tastes like ranch dressing. What a waste of time and money. We normally go to Pablo's in Shakopee on Lewis Street. NOT DON PABLOS. Pablos is a family run business and the food and margarita's are awesome. I'll never try a new mexican place again. El Loro should be El yucko!
- Pros: The bathroom was clean
- Cons: Nasty food, slow service, bad drinks
