Minnesota's best Mexican. Very adverage, authentic environment, but the food was the best I have had since moving from California. My wife and I had dinner for two that could have fed 4. Service was unassuming and fantastic. I asked for hot Salsa and did they deliver. Great green chile hot sauce! We used to live in Savage and never went there, wish we would have and we will be going again!
This casual, bare-bones cantina is a perennial crowd-pleaser thanks to authentic chefs who offer every Mexican and Tex-Mex meal imaginable..
In Short
The local regulars have their favorites: carne asada, enchiladas poblanos. Yet those new to this ever-popular cantina can down an entire Corona before getting through the lengthy menu. Specializing in traditional Tex-Mex (quesadillas and fajitas) and authentic Mexican (pork carnitas with tortillas, rice and beans), it's a big draw for suburban families out for cheap, kid-friendly eats. While the budget-conscious, under-30 set order up a Texas margarita and call this place a great Saturday-night date.
No Doubt the BEST Mexican in Minnesota.
Transplanted from the South, being a big fan of authentican Mexican put me on the hunt for an experience similar to that I've left behind.
Having tried several other resturants in the metro area, so far El Loro is by far the best. The chips and salsa were delicious, the cheese dip was EXCELLENT, and there's no better deal out there than their $6 Lunch Fajitas - you can't beat the amount of food you get for the price.
Thankfully El Loro is only 5 minutes away from my house, because I'm sure I'll be headed back for more (and to try their margaritas)!
Rating for El Loro should be pushed up.. This is one of the best places for Tex-Mex north of the Mason-Dixon line. Felt I should enter this rating to better reflect the quality found at EL Loro. If you like really good and flavorable Mexican food - check this place out.
Best Tex Mex in Minnesota. A gold mine of a find in the Northland. We moved up from Texas 9 years ago and this is the best place we have found, and we have tried most everywhere. Good Tex Mex is hard to find up here. This place is real Tex Mex food. And it is owned, operated, and served by spanish people. Very authentic, always fast and friendly. It is our favorite place to eat!
great food in this era of chain texmex.
Tired of the chain tex mex? Try el loro. This specific restaurant is my neighborhood joint and I created an account here so i could comment.
Food is very good - I recommend the burritos mexicano. Prices are reasonable. They just added an addition so there is plenty of seating and a small bar. Can't say enough about the great service, they are always friendly and attentive.
I will be moving to Eden Prarie soon but will have to drive back down to Burnsville often to eat at my favorite mexican retaurant!
As good as "Tex"-Mex. Was up in Savage visiting a friend of mine (tell Evan Church hi) and he took me here....Man was it great. As good or better than most of the places here and the service was a definite TEN. Thanx folks, Marty in Texas
Excellent. The food is great home style Mexican fare, and the jumbo Texas Margaritas are EIGHT BUCKS, but you only need three of them! OK, two will put you under the table. The atmosphere is very bright, and somewhat loud and boisterous. I love seeing all these authentic mexican restaraunts that have opened up here lately.
Like Being On The Border. I spent 7 weeks along the Texas border eating in just about every Mom & Pop mexican joint I could find because the food was fantastic and the value was impossible to beat. El Loro is all of that! It's the most authentic, delicious food I've found. Try the Chorizo Pollo! Aside from it being a little bit too loud when it gets full, it's fantastic!!
Great Food and Margs... Both my husband and I love this place. The food is wonderful. The authentic Mexican food brings us back time and time. I actually really love the atmosphere. It is an old steak house that was converted into this Mexican restaurant. They splashed some color on the walls and hired a staff ready to make your meal enjoyable. Oh yes.. don't forget to try one of the margaritas. They are amazing! I highly recommend this restaurant for authentic Mexican food.
