As An Ex-Employee. I decided to randomly read the reviews that there is for my old work place, and stumbled across some ridicoulous complaints. I do understand that the ticket prices are hight after 4 on weekends and holidays, but the thing is they only raised it one dollar from it's original 9 dollar ticket price before. Secondly, the lowered the weekday price and matinee prices on weekends to only 5 dollars anytime. (as long as it's not a holiday). Thirdly, if the prices bother you so badly but you still want to go to AMC, because it it a pretty amazing theater, then go to CostCo and get the golden passes that they sell there for 7.50 a piece. Those are good anytime for any move, new or old. Also ask your human resources at your work if they give out any golden or silver passes at your work. Those make it free, the silver however, you have to wait 2 weeks after the movie has been out to get it for free, but those silver tickets are cheaper. If you have an issue with the food prices, bring your own food in! Come on, we do not care as long as it doesn't have an aroma that will disturb the other guests in the theater(ex. pizza, chicken). Drinks? There's a vending machine on the corner of the arbor lakes mall not even 200ft from the front door of AMC! Stuff it down your pants. Otherwise, just get it there, I think it's the whole experience when you go to the theater to at least spring for the popcorn for your date. Anyway, if there's an issue within the theater contact an employee and we will give them a warning, if it continues, we will kick them out, no refund. If you want to get deals for spending your money on tickets or even on the tickets(also there's coupons in the GoldenC books good for full price movies)then get the AMC moviewatcher card, it's free and you get free popcorn, snacks, and even movies from using it when you buy your tickets. The website that you check for ACCURATE movie times is at the amc theatres web page. NOT ANYWHERE ELSE THEY ARE 3RD PARTY! Enjoy your movie!
STAY AWAY ON WEEKENDS. Pricing policy is terrible! No senior discounts all weekend! We can go to the same movies for less money, and not much farther to drive, at Plymouth Mann or Willow Creek. We, too, have experienced rude teen-age audience behavior.
$10 movie at 430pm.
My gf and I went here, to a movie today, Sunday, for a 430pm showing of a PG movie. The price irked me, as seen below. This is my first review-but I read the other reviews before I went to this theater.
Also; and perhaps somewhat out of the theaters control: a couple was there with their young child (Kids movie-Kung Fu Panda)-but with a baby also! Baby kept crying and mother didn't take it out of the theater-many of us had to keep 'shushing' loudly. There should be some sort of rule that children under age 3 should only be allowed to go to movies on certain days. I'm not anti-children-It's disrupting, rude, and irresponsible!
CONS: PRICE: Sunday afternoon movie at 430pm, was 10 dollars! For one person!? I immediately made a note to self: never come here again-only for the reason of price-which may not be the theaters direct fault--but it hurt my wallet. I thought it would be cheaper if it was before 5 or 6pm. Candy was pretty expensive-med pop and med popcorn was 10 dollars! I did have the dealio of milk duds(gas station price of $.99), small popcorn, and small drink for $7.50 (the 3 for $7.50 deal).. but I wouldn't have bought the Milk duds for $4.25 or so for a small box. And theaters wonder why people bring candy in from home!
Pros: ample/close parking, HUGE theater with many seats-not a bad seat anywhere!, kind and courteous young employees-very polite (sometimes this is hard to achieve with certain jobs) and offered cheaper deals, and explained what things were ('Cool Pack') etc..
I guess next time, I'd call ( as suggested in another review) to get prices so there aren't any 'surprises.'
AMC VS. ROGERS MUELLER....best price for the buck.
AMC Arbor Lakes used to be the theater I went to for shows. However, I now go to Mueller 18 in Rogers.
It is just 10 minutes from AMC. They have bargain matinees until 6:00PM everyday. So my friends and I
have switched our Friday afternoon enjoyment to the Rogers theater. It is beautiful! They have a monster screen at no extra charge. It was great seeing Pirates on it. I will not to go the AMC Maple Grove theater
again after visiting the Rogers theater. I also had different times of movies problem with AMC and thought some of the staff was rude.
emelynkay, go $#@& yourself..
This is in response to emelynkay who reviewed this theater.
Believe it or not, I am the employee she is referring to.
I'd like it known that those online sources that have the times of movie showings are third party sources They are in no way affiliated with AMC. They are trying to provide a service but unfortunately are often incorrect. For every shift that I have I probably deal with 30 people who are frusterated at the errors on these websites and looking to blame someone. The movie she is referring to had one showing early on in the day. For the remainder of that day a different movie was played in that theater. I'm sorry if I sound incredibly irritated, but it may that I just told the person in front of you the same thing. If you call 763-494-0379 an employee or manager will answer. We are all competent and have the showtimes right in front of us at all times.
I love nothing more than to be polite to someone who has been friendly and polite to me. However, I find it incredibly difficult to smile and retain a friendly tone when a lunatic is screaming at me for something that is not my fault. Also, if they cannot comprehend the reasons as to why there is not a show at the time they think there is a show then things get pretty stupid pretty fast.
AVOID SATURDAY MATINEES! WE WERE MACED!!.
My experience w/ this theater has typically been pretty good. We did have an incident, last year that has led us (my boyfriend & I) to be very hesitant to go to this theater.
We planned date night, on a saturday afternoon. We had dinner at Red Lobster & were headed to a much anticipated movie; The Haunting of Emily Rose. We never did get to see the movie.
Buying the tickets was uneventful, as was purchasing our popcorn & beverages. We were a little early, so we figured we would sit in the auditorium & wait for the movie to start.
There was a group of girls a few rows ahead of us, the usual pre-movie chit chat. The trailers start rolling, the girls dont stop talking, they actually start to get louder.
The movie starts & the girls are still talking, very loudly now. I lean forward & asked them to quiet down, I would like to hear the movie please. Their response to my request was unexpected.
All 5 of these girls got up, boxed my boyfriend in our seats & maced my boyfriend. Yes, MACE. About 4 inches from his face & nowhere to go but through these girls to get out of our seats. Once the mace was sprayed the girls took off; running out of the auditorium....laughing & cheering each other on.
I managed to vault the seats in front of me & began pursuing the girls that assaulted us.
Management did nothing. They didnt see it, so there was nothing they could do. I had chased the girls out of the auditorium, through the lobby, passed MANY employees; yelling at the top of my lungs....they maced my boyfriend, stop them!!! nothing. Noone moved to help. I had to actively track down the manager, who was in a back room, somewhere.
We were given a refund of our movie tickets, the same for the other patrons. The auditorium had to be closed, until the mace vapors disipated.
no police report filed, nothing. We were even accused of provoking the attack!
Needless to say, we watch alot of movies at home now. We are very hesitant to see a movie in that theater again.
The stars are larger than life at this large-screened, large-sized googolplex..
In Short
The Arbor Lakes 16 theater is the size of a small casino and inspires all who dare approach to pause in awe before opening one of its many, many doors. The latest releases play across 16 wall-to-wall screens and visitors enjoy several cubic acres of frigid air conditioning, equally numbing decibel levels, plus Dolby, stadium seating and high-tech screens. It's even got VIP boxes, concierge services and a birthday room for kids' parties.
Poor coordination of information!!. Last Friday night my husband and I planned in detail a rare date night away from home, stopping at Biaggi's beforehand and planning on a 10:25 (p.m.) Pirates of the Carribean show - one of the few remaining theaters around showing it. I had even called AMC and spoke with someone who verified that it indeed showed at that time, and although I could not purchase advance tickets, he assured me that not too many people would be attending that showing. After a lovely dinner, we arrive at the theater at 10:10 p.m. to see a sign posted that there were no more viewings that night! Upon confronting the ticketer, I informed him that I had even checked with a live person over the phone, and that I had double checked show times online. His snotty, matter-of-fact response: "Oh, the online information is wrong." Also that the "no more viewings today" sign wasn't recently posted - it had been a daily posting. Well, needless to say, we were extremely disappointed (and now I see the online information has been corrected). We weren't even offered an apology or consolation prize (as if it were my responsibility to predict the inconsistencies), just really snotty attitude. So! Double check WITH A MANAGER before driving an hour if you possibly can. Poor customer service. I'm sure the theater is great, but the experience we had really turned us off!!!
Best Twin Cities theater ever!. This theater is by far the nicest theater I have been to in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. The seats are very comfortable and I like how you can lift the armrests and how the seats recline. The popcorn was very good and the staff was very helpful. I was surprised they had an upstairs with projection rooms and private VIP screening rooms. Even if you have to drive 10 or 15 minutes, it is still a great place to see a movie.
popcorn sucks. Great theator but the popcorn really sucks. I think the make way to much, therefore leaving only stale popcorn. Also, they use a very bland oil.
