What People Are Saying About Beaujo's Wine Bar & Bistro

In Short – Tucked into the avenues of 50th and France, neighbors are thrilled to have a chic, suburban wine bar crowded with couples and friends. Buttery walls, decorative mirrors and a large brick oven lend a friendly, European feel. Colorful paintings by local artists add down-home comfort. The wine list changes quarterly, with about 34 bottles spanning the globe, lining the bar. Rich French dishes include a creamy truffle pâté and roast chicken marinated in creme fraiche.
Editor's Tips
- When to Go:
- Bear in mind that Beaujo's gets packed before and after movies at the theater across the street.
- What to Drink:
- For a sampling of house favorites, order a budget-friendly wine flight--a tasting of three different wines.
- Where to Sit:
- Window seats and tables fill quickly, but the stools lining the wine bar are the place to sit and be seen.
Average food and wine in a great atmosphere

This place has a great atmosphere in the bar and front dining areas, but the back area is a bit cold and quiet. We found it funny that it?s called a wine bar, but our waiter didn?t like the Cabernet on the menu and only recommended 2 or 3 of the red wines. We expected a more interesting wine menu as well. Regarding food, when we asked about the hamburger, our waiter said it was ?pedestrian? (which we assumed he meant was just so so). The chicken had great flavor but was a bit dry and the steak came out undercooked twice but in the end tasted good. If you?re just looking for a place with average food and an average wine list with great atmosphere, this place is for you.
- Pros: Ambiance
- Cons: Wine list and food
Always A Gem

Our last visit to Beaujo's reconfirms why we continue to visit. Delicious mushroom soup, delectable cheese plate and our favorite the "red wine flight". Friendly, knowledgable wait-staff, you can tell they love working here! We enjoy the seasonal changing wine list as this gets us out of our "box".
- Pros: Staff, ambience, wine flights
- Cons: No breakfast
I love the European feel

As one who likes to frequent smaller local establishments, in my opinion Beaujo's stands out because of it's unique comfortable atmosphere. We have been there numerous times and enjoy the variety of wines and the simple bistro style comfort foods. The last time in I had the meatloaf sandwich which I highly recommend. We will be back.
Stay away

Between 2 people we had one dirty glass, one dirty spoon, a potato and leek soup in which the potatos were not quite cooked, a wine endorsed by the server that was not great ... and nobody even asked about the meal, although everything was only half eaten. There are plenty of other places to eat around.
A Neighborhood "Gem"!!

Over the past five years, I've enjoyed dozens of tasty meals at Beaujous it's become one of those favorite "comfy" hang-outs for me in the Twin Cities. Being a bit of a wine afficianado, I am consistently delighted by sampling wines I do not find anywhere else! The walleye positively rocks my world -- Quite possibly the best in town (be sure to try it!!) Consistently friendly staff puts me at ease, even when I dine alone. A slam-dunk easy choice for meeting gal pals after work.
- Pros: Ambience, Wine List, Walleye, Reliable, Charming
- Cons: Can get crowded after movies
