In Short – Established in 1982, this chain gained a following for its laid-back atmosphere and generous portions. Patrons settle into comfortable booths and tables in dining rooms with plants, artwork and décor reminiscient of the villas in the Tuscan countryside. Starters include scampi, sausage or pepperoni pizza, and several soup choices, as well as a signature seafood dip (crab, shrimp, cheese and marinara). Entrees include classics like lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo and chicken parmigiana. There are also "Garden Fare" options, which promise 30 percent fewer calories.

The WORST Service

by EMartin at Citysearch

I don't usually write reviews unless something is exceptionally good or horribly bad. The Olive Garden in Maple Grove is horribly bad.

We went there last night to have a farewell dinner for my 83 year old mother-in-law before she returns home to Washington, D.C. We were told there would be an hour wait, which we understood and agreed to. We had been waiting approximately 25-30 minutes when our buzzer started going off. The hostess told my husband that the ONLY way they could seat us was at two adjoining booths. (We were a party of 7) We were lead past several large and empty tables and seated at booths that were back to back with an obstruction in between us. This was NOT acceptable. We were in no way shape or form seated together. I questioned the hostess as to why we weren't being seated together when there were so many empty tables that could accomodate us and she said they were reserved so this was all they could do. When I asked why we weren't told initially that they couldn't accomodate us she said they could accomodate us but that it would be an hour wait. I told her we had understood this and had agreed to wait. She said well if we wanted to leave they would put our name back on the list and we could wait for a larger table again. I asked why they didn't do that to begin with since that was what they told us and she just shrugged and said she didn't know. Well by this time my elderly mother-in-law wasn't up to being moved or reseated so that is how we ate -- In two entirely seperate booths. It was a LOUSY farewell dinner for my mother-in-law who in all honesty, we may never see again.

Going out to dinner together and being seated at completely different tables defeats the entire purpose. Now we understand why two groups before us left after having already waited for some time. They obviously tried to pull the same stunt with them.

You got your money from us last night but you will never get another dime from us. There are too many other nicer dining options in Maple Grove.
