Editorial Review for Truffles & Tortes – by Stephanie Davila
In Short
The enticing aromas of decedent cakes, tortes, tarts and truffles fill the cozy country-chic cafe planted across from the Willow Creek movie theater. Commuters stop by the petite tin-roof bakery for coffee and pastries on weekday mornings and return with their families for after-dinner desserts at night. The lunchtime crowd comes to curb their mid-afternoon sweet tooth and to pick over the fresh soups, salads and quiches from personal chef/catering company Annie's Cooking Tonight.

I've been going to the Chinese restaurant in the same strip mall since I moved to the Twin-Cities 3 years ago, and always wondered about "Truffles and Tortes" each time I passed it. Finally, after a few months I decided on a whim to walk in and see what it was about. I tried, as recommended, the "Concerto", and I kid you not, dessert has never been the same for me. I have been there at least once every few weeks since, and have tried almost everything in the case. The best has to be hands down the raspberry almond torte. Nothing compares to T&T! If it's not from there, it's not dessert!

I found this place from the reviews on here and went there today after a terrible lunch experience at a different restaurant. We wanted to end our lunch on a positive note. It's a nice quaint little shop in the stripmall across from the Willow Creek theatre off Shelard Pkwy by the General Mills campus. We ordered 5 truffles and 4 tortes and so far everything is fantastic (of course we didn't eat it all). I had the almond/rasberry torte and it was by far the best torte I've ever tasted. My fiance ate 2 of the truffles and said they were really good - I won't take his word for it though, as I'll be sneaking a piece for myself later. If you get a chance, stop in - you won't regret it.
Pros: parking, service, desserts
Cons: none
