Best pastries in town – On a Sunday morning at 10:00 I expected it to be crazy, but there were 2-3 tables open. We both had personal quiches, though splitting one would have been fine. The filling was very light, and not stuffed with ingredients. Coffee was a bit strong for me, but some would like it. Croissant a bit chewy but well-flavored. We brought home some pastries - a chocolate praline which was incredible. Chocolate was soft ganache with a chocolate mousse inside - very rich. Baguette was also excellent. We have a few more truffles to try tomorrow. Location is easy to get to - bright blue strip mall across from Southdale. Highly recommended! Display cases are gorgeous - very European.
Pastry Heaven – It seems almost cruel to have opened this wonderful culinary masterpiece two doors down from a well known dieters club. But I suppose if your going to cheat on your diet there is not a better way to go. There's not one item I've had at Patrick's that hasn't provided flavor beyond my wildest dreams. I plan on continuing to eat my way through the immaculate cases until I've tried every item at least one time. I may subsequently need that diet place two doors down but as I've stated before what a way to go!
Perfection – The pastries are authentic, the ingredients are top notch! Everything I've had here has been so wonderful. The Galette Fermiere is wonderful crisped up in the oven and served warm. The Apple Chiboust is worth buying just for the custardy meringue on top. Don't miss the Feuillantine Pralinee Chocolate Cake or the Raspberry-Chocolate Fondant Cake. Everything just melts in your mouth! I think I'll stop by right now . . .
Bring a snack for the wait...... – I have tried going twice in the past 2 weeks (once on a weekend and once during the week) and have yet to walk out with anything to eat. The first time was mid-afternoon on a Sat. and there was virtually nothing left. The second, right before lunch when I waited for 20 minutes with a squirmy toddler and left with 6 people still ahead of me. This time there was food, I just couldn't wait ANOTHER 20 minutes for service. The breads and the pastries looked gorgeous and I changed my order in my head a million times while contemplating what would be the least detrimental to my diet. Lucky for my waistline, the clock ran out on my patience! One of these days I'll get my hands on an eclair without having to growing old waiting!
Gourge on the Opera Cakes – FABULOUS! Well priced. The pastries are gorgeous and the staff pleasant. A needed add to the neighborhood.
Patrick's rocks! – Unlikely location is right - but, happily, close to home! We make a point of stopping in every weekend and buying bread (SUPER baguettes, boules, etc.), desserts (REAL French pastries, croissants and even Danish, to die for!), and lunch (quiche, sandwiches, gallettes - classy stuff!). The only thing I miss is a nice big bowl of cafe au lait - good thing, or I'd be there every day for breakfast too. Oh, and there are tables outside when the weather's nice.
