Great Restaurant!!!!

My girlfriend and I always go to this place for dinner. Everything we have ordered has been delicious. We typically can't finish, due to the large portions and frequent chips and salsa dip refills (I highly recommend the cheese dip too), and get to have leftovers for lunch the next day. The waiter/owner is awesome.

In reference to a previous review; when my girlfriend pays he teases me about her buying in a joking manner with a huge smile on his face and no disrespect intended. Why would he care who pays the bill! We will continue to visit El Gordo frequently, and recommend it to anyone we can!

Que Horrible!

Went here on a Saturday for a light lunch. I Ordered a beef tamale. I should have been covered with ground beef and other goodies according to the menu. WHat I got was a chicken tamale with red sauce. When I brought it up with the server/owner he said that sometimes they dont have the beef so they serve the chicken. After I told he he should tell me that when I order he was offended and started an uncomfortable argument in his store. I asked him to leave the table.

He came back and said that "he understood my complaint" and there would be no charge". Duh. I never saw him again.

The food is less authentic then a Taco Johns as well.

Never EVER eat here. The staff is the rudest that I have ever experienced and the food is not at all impressive.

Worse Service Ever. Worse Attitude Ever.

Food.......okay. Service..........bad bad bad. One of the worse experience ever. The server is an ignorant hispanic. I am Asian, went to this restaurant with my fiance who is Caucasian. We had a big breakfast earlier the day and was shopping at the Knollwood Mall. Wanted just a light lunch. We walked in and he brought out a basket of chips and salsa. We ordered two softdrinks and subsequently ordered one taco and a burrito. The server walked away with a comment "you just wasted my time." We blew off the comment and finished our food. He got us the check, I gave my fiance a $10 bill. A minute later, she handed the $10 bill and the bill to him. He commented, "I guess the ladies pay in the United States." I confronted him about the comments. He mumbled in Spanish and he did not denied the comment he made, but he didn't gave me an answer neither. He went on and gave me the change and said, "take your change and never come back again". My fiance and I did not do a thing to him to deserve this kind of treatment!! We felt totally discriminated against because we are the only interracial couple within the restaurant.

If you go to this restaurant, guys, be prepared to pay or expect a nasty comment from the server because he can't deal with having the women paying in the United States!! Or if you are going there for just a snack or drink, DON'T border, you are just wasting his time!
