Absolutely Fantastic Experience
by smoosh619 at Citysearch
I was at Luna Rossa last night with 2 friends and all of us agreed it was the best dining experience we had ever had. The atmosphere was fantastic, the waiter had a thick Italian accent and offered great suggestions, the food was out of this world good. We had the penne carbonara, beef tenderloin in gorgonzola sauce and the special of the day which was pork medallions in a tenderloin sauce. If you are thinking about going to this restaurant you should not hesitate, it is fabulous.
- Pros: Ambiance, Food
- Cons: None
Horrible service, forgettable food and be fussy about where you're seated!

We didn't pay attention to the tip to be choosy about seating, and the host put us at a table right at the door to go out to the patio, so our only romantic ambiance was the busy foot traffic broken by the occasional tumbleweed of lettuce or cellophane from the outside. I wish I was kidding. Our server Colin took 20 minutes to show up, made no mention of specials, seemed surprised that we were ready to order, and left an empty bread basket on our plate from the moment he arrived to the moment we left (no offer either to refill or remove). We saw him perhaps five times over a lengthy dining experience while at a table nearby a fellow waitress appeared to be taking good care of her clients. The service would have injured better food than we were served. A "crispy" stuffed mushroom appetizer arrived swimming in sauce; the flavor wasn't bad, but nothing special either. My husband liked the saltimbocca, but stay away from the texture-free cheese festival that is the lasagna. We had no patience to stay around for dessert and will not be going back for it.
- Pros: Convenient to Stillwater shopping district
- Cons: Service, Food Quality, Ambiance (If You Don't Specify Seating)
Good food and delightful server
by equuslynn at Citysearch
My partner and I (along with our young children) were shopping in the historic downtown Stillwater area on Father's Day when we decided to stop into Luna Rossa for a late lunch. The place was decidely busy for our server (who seemed to be one of two people running the place on a holiday?!) but she was a delight! She was friendly and prompt, and the food was delectable (try the pizza!) and the drinks were just strong enough to feel like you were getting what you paid for. Our only complaint was the bread: it seemed to be a few days old and there was only white bread as an option. That aside, we will definitely go back.
- Pros: Food, Server, Ambience
- Cons: Parking was difficult to find on the weekend
