In Short
Since opening its doors in 2005, Gigi's has grown to become one of the best places in town to grab a meal on the go. This isn't fast food. In fact, everything at this warm, candlelit spot could be considered "slow food": Dishes like spinach parmesan tarts, mushroom red-pepper tarts and chicken empanadas are all delicately made and beautifully displayed. It makes sense that these meals with flaky crusts and decadent ingredients mirror their sweet counterparts. Gigi's is known for its homemade baked goods like tiramisu cheesecake bars, blueberry lemon tart, rhubarb streusel and chocolate cake.

We've been going to Gigi's off and on since they opened, and it used to be a favorite place to take the family for good food at a reasonable price, with little wait. I've just sworn off the restaurant entirely. There's nothing family friendly about your 4 year old waiting 45 minutes for 1 order of grilled cheese, and two other items that only needed to be reheated. It's a deli case, for crying out loud, why does it take them so long to reheat the food? When they turned down the lights at night, expanded the bar, and changed the menu, I guess they were trying to say, 'no kids.' So we got the message. It's too bad, we used to love the place.

We have been going to Gigi's for the Wednesday night pizza deal for years, but after this week, I don't know if we'll go back. Apparently they changed their bread supplier to the New French Bakery, and the change has caused their pizza crusts to shrink 2 inches (for only $1 less!) and become greasy and soggy. I used to love this place, but it's just getting sad and disappointing. What's going on?

The food is good and they have a lot of different kinds of unusual fare, so you can always find something different and good. The service people are very nice (though sometimes they seem a little easily confused). The atmosphere is also very nice. They have a couple of different rooms with different levels of lighting, so you have some variety. They also have a lot of baked goods and coffee, all of which is excellent. Based on what I had heard before, I thought the food would be better, and I found it a little too expensive for what you get. However, it still has a lot of good stuff and the staff is very sweet, so I'd still recommend it.
