In Short – This strip-mall studio's interior will feel like a furnace; the space is heated for the workout. Silly but stern instructors usually call out poses and correct techniques. Bikram yoga is a series of 26 hatha postures and two pranayama breathing exercises selected to stimulate, invigorate and energize every cell, tissue, muscle, joint, bone and organ in the body. The workout will feel aerobic, with your heart rate climbing for most of the 45-minute class and downright pounding during the most strenuous postures.
Supportive and fun
by Nunzio
I've started Bikram Yoga here as a beginner. Since I have gone to classes on different days of the week and times I have had three instructors--all were very supportive, energetic, and fun. A 90 minute class can be long in the high heat and humidity; but I think it really helps you get deep into the postures. The first time you come arrive early to fill out the intake form . . . and if you just want to try it out they'll rent you a yoga mat to get you started. Visit the webpage: www.yogamn.com for all the info; the map on this City Guide page isn't correct. Also, the 'front' door is in the back.
- Pros: beginner friendly, great instructors, peaceful environment
