What People Are Saying About Ike's Food & Cocktails

In Short – One look at the neon sign outside and you'd swear this place has been around since the '40s. The gorgeous antique wood bar runs the length of the narrow room and World War II memorabilia adorns the walls. Lunchtime features hand-carved roast beef sandwiches, huge hand-patted burgers or chili thick with shredded beef and rich spice. For dinner, there's roasted chicken with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy--the Blue Plate Special.
Editor's Tips
- Happy Hour:
- From 3pm to 6pm weekdays, get food and drink specials; at 5pm, a DJ spins in the bar. Late-night happy hour goes from 10pm to midnight.
- Know Before You Go:
- No smoking in the dining room at lunch. At dinner, smoking is allowed in half the room--a state-of-the-art ventilation system keeps it tolerable.
- Where to Sit:
- Arrive around 5pm if you want to sit in one of the coveted comfy booths for dinner.

Club Sandwiches
by Lasic1 at Citysearch
While waiting for a delayed flight, being hungry from a full day of travel, I popped into Ikes at the MPSP airport. The menu was pricey for burgers and sandwiches but I elected to stay. While scanning the menu I thought the turkey club would be good. Well upon receiving it from the waitress the first thing I noticed was the fries were somewhat burnt and dripping grease. (Lovely) The coleslaw was far too wet for me and full of mayonaise so I never touched it. Being hungry I started eating the club sandwich. After two bites I had a burning sensation in my mouth. Also the beef in there was stringy and unedible. Anyway I managed to eat the first half with two refills of iced tea. Since my mouth was still burning I decided to open the remaining half. Well to my surprise it was full of jalopeno peppers. Never had I seen this in a club sandwich. The whole experience was terrible and this was the worst club sandwich I've ever experienced anywhere. My stomach burned all the way to Baltimore and promised that will be the last time I dine at Ike's at the airport.
