Editorial Review for JP American Bistro – by Donna Tabbert Long
In Short
Golden walls and plum-painted pillars warm up this former tire shop, while an open kitchen at one end provides a distant bustle. Professional service, artsy menus and glass-block wall inserts give this place an aura of expensive class, but the spirit is simply cozy cafe. The New American menu features innovative seasonal cuisine with a distinct Asian influence. Among entrees, there's buttery tuna spiked with wasabi, gnocchi soaking in mushroom broth or flavorful short ribs.

We happened upon this place by accident - had heard of it but weren't planning to go - on an off night (Wednesday). First and foremost, the service was great. Not snobbish while not fake as happens all too often. I always feel uncomfortable when the wait staff kisses up. Our waiter was very down-to-earth and knowledgeable. The wine list appeared to have a number of reasonably-priced wines - we found something very nice without having to splurge. Our salad and entrees were wonderful - great attention to detail and all flavors worked remarkably well together. For the record, we had the butter lettuce salad, roasted butternut squash agnolotti and the stuffed trout (onion, mushroom and bacon), and were treated with a free taste of the fries with paprika and aioli, which were outstanding as well. All in all, this is probably the overall best restaurant experince we've had in some time, and I'm frankly surprised that I'm saying that as we've had a lot of great experiences (and some not so great!). Go here. Eat well. Be happy.
Pros: Great service, fantastic food
Cons: None

I've been meaning to try JP's for quite sometime now after reading and hearing so many great things about the place. Working in fine dining myself, I am a bit of a critic and not easily impressed. I have to say that it was a truly great dining experience and everything that came out of the kitchen was a masterpiece. The attention to detail and pairing of the ingredients were obviously the work of a very talented chef. In addition, the service was friendly, knowledgeable and actually matched the quality of the food- which in itself seems to be an impressive feat for most high end restaurants. Great experience and a place that I will definitely visit again!
Pros: Convenient Parking, Incredible food and Great service
Cons: Nothing
