In Short
Warm lighting and comfy banquettes along the walls soften the sleek, minimalist decor at this roomy storefront. But hardwood floors and hard surfaces mean it's still excessively loud. The nonchalant, smartly dressed, southwest Minneapolis crowd doesn't seem to mind. Entrees range from a succulent pink steak with salty, crispy frites, to the French comfort food standard, roast chicken. Specials have featured herbed halibut with lemon-spiked wine sauce or a tangle of pasta with spring vegetables.

I love, love, love Cave Vin! Their escargot are my favorite in town and not the same as everyone else (in the shell with butter and garlic). The escargot here are out of the shell in a garlic cream sauce that you soak up with wonderful French bread. Every entree I have tried has been wonderful and you can get champagne by the glass - yea! You would never know this is a former Kenny's - in fact, it might be a little too dark - it's basically candlelight only. It is a gem and I don't go there often enough!

If you go, ask to be seated in Elizabeth's section. She is top-notch, attentive, timely, courteous and knowlegeable. She is occasionally the hostess, but often the serves. The salad is a bit over-priced but good. Entrees never fail to impress. The seafood is reliably wonderful, and the pork and steak options have never disappointed. We love the revolving menu with the staples, and the evening specials. Desserts are incredible. If you LOVE chocolate, you must try the pots de creme.

Make sure Jeff is your waitron, he is super cool. Quite the dandy. He makes me happier than a schoolgirl in her new uniform. And the food is just as tasty!
