Tips for Appliance Depot

April 09, 2013

About two weeks ago, the handle on my fairly new Maytag dishwasher broke.

Obviously, the dishwasher won't work if the door can't latch, so I started looking for a replacement part. I found the latch in a few different places, but the handle was never shown in the diagram or the photo.

Long story short, I ordered the part from Sears after being reassured by Maytag that the handle would be included. It wasn't. I contacted Maytag again, as well as Sears, but no one could tell me where I might find a handle. They couldn't help me.

I did a Google image search using the part number, and finally found a picture that showed the latch and handle together - it led to your site! I contacted you guys and was relieved to talk immediately to a real person.

And not just any person - the person who would be taking, filling, and shipping my order.

The shipment arrived quickly, the price was very reasonable, and - most importantly - the part fit! My experience with Appliance Depot was very positive. Real humans answering the phone and efficient ordering/delivery, what a concept. Thank you!

Good afternoon. I would like to thank your appliance expert, Ron, who has offered me assistance recently with both my washer and dryer. Both appliances are around 40+ years old and I had trouble even finding scimatics or current part numbers. When I contacted your company, Ron was extremely knowledgeable and knew exactly how to diagnose my issues...most impressive since my appliances are so old. He is a credit to your firm and I will definately use appliance depot again in the future.

Sincerely,

John Beall

MonkeyG We are sorry you had problems with your appliance. At the time your appliance needed repair it was no longer in warranty. We like to offer technical support over the phone to all of our customers whenever we can. Unfortunately that can be difficult to do as we do not have the appliance in front of us. Our used parts are priced at half the price of new and are all tested. We make it very clear at the time of purchase of our service area so customers know that when buying from us if they want in home repair they need to be within a certain radius of our facility. I believe you purchased a used appliance and had the appliance for a couple years before you had any problems. We offer a 6 month warranty on all used appliances as well as help with repairs and service long after the warranty. We do charge a 2% service fee for credit cards unless you sign up for our card, use a check or cash. We decided to give our customers an option of using a card instead of not accepting credit cards of their choosing. We are sorry if this was an inconvenience to you.

Both the appliances you purchased were new from the manufacturer. Unfortunately we do not make the appliances and try to pick the best brands we believe will last the longest. There are not many to choose from anymore (they just aren't made like they use to) but the brands we believe to be the best are Whirlpool and GE products. At the time of your purchase we were offering a great deal to veterans and their families. It was our veterans appreciation event where vets and families can purchase new appliances at our dealer cost. No retail fees. There are absolutely no kick backs from the manufacturer for this event and we do not make any money for the appliances sold. It was solely our decision to try to help out those who fight for our country. When you buy new appliances and have a service problem within the manufacturer warranty, the manufacturer chooses the type of service or if needed a return. We are sorry that your appliances malfunctioned. We had a great outcome the past 2 years with our Veterans event and will be offering it for as many years as we can. It feels great to help those who risk it all for us and our families.

Wow~! Thank you for the exceptional. Thank you for the exceptional service through your online store!

A special thanks to Ron, who went the extra mile by requesting I email him photos of the dishwasher rack that I need to replace, then found the exact one, in perfect condition, and offered it at an incredibly low, fair price! Such personal, perfect service!!

I live in San Diego, California and never expected that the best doctor for my dishwasher was 2000 miles away in Minnesota. I cannot thank you enough!

Blessings,

Carrie from San Diego

Appliance Depot. I just want to thank Appliance Depot and the appliance part recycling division. I recently bought a used stove from a guy locally for a great price. However, when trying to get it through the door, I banged the glass front against the door while pulling it over the raised threshold, shattering the decorative glass. A new front was well over $100 from most parts chains. I then stumbled across your site and found the part for less than half the cost of the new one. The part was shipped to me reasonably fast and was well packed. (The glass even survived the UPS delivery man throwing it over the fence!)

Great job, AD!

Ron and staff,. Thanks so much for all of your help with our microwave and our duct for the clothes dryer. Your honesty and integrity are such a breath of fresh air! This is how businesses use to be done years ago. We will only shop and buy from the Appliance Depot.

Thanks again,

Stu S.

Shop Elsewhere!! Buyer Beware!!. This place sucks! I purchased two supposedly brand new appliances from Appliance Depot and within 48 hours of installing each of them I needed to call for sevice calls as both were defective in some way. Also, all sales are final which is not the case at other appliance shops. Keep your money and go to a major chain that will actually stand behind their product and not push certain brands just so they can get a kick back from the manufacturer.

Good place, not perfect. This is locally owned shop, they seem very knowledgeable, and I saved almost 30% on a new Amana bottom-freezer refrigerator buying it scratch-and-dent there. But 16 months after buying it, frost started building up in the freezer - which caused the fridge side to stop working. The warranty was 12 months and I hadn't bought extended coverage. To their credit they worked with me by phone to diagnose the problem anyway - except that they ended up steering me wrong. I followed instructions, ran the diagnostics, called them and said that the defrost thermostat test failed - it came up S for "short." I asked if I should try putting it into force defrost mode, was told not to bother because it wouldn't work without the defrost thermometer, and they referred me to a repair service. When the serviceman came out he informed me that "S' on that test means pass, not fail. He just put it into force defrost mode to get rid of the buildup (worked fine), and determined that the problem was some gunk built up on the sliding rails preventing the door from sealing. I understand that nobody's perfect, but it's still frustrating to be out $95 for a service call that didn't have to happen. Lesson learned to get a second opinion next time before scheduling service.
