A lovely and locally owned garden shop that supports local and sustainable gardens and business practices. When Tangletown Garden says it’s an urban oasis, it’s not kidding. This garden shop in South Minneapolis is straight out of a fairytale, filled with climbing roses, urns, statues, and rows of bright peonies, coleus, evergreens and everything in between. Two graduates of the U of M’s horticulture program opened Tangletown, and they have more than 30 years of combined experience in sustainable practices--from organic gardening to native planting. Their dedication to the environment shows…
Garden Center Extraordinaire!

Nothing but kudos for this hard working little garden center. I have been to them and co one comes close to doing what these guys do. I always see things there that I have never seen before. The staff is enthusiastic and you can tell that they actually care about what they are doing. They seem honest and genuine. There is a real passion there and it shows. The way things are dispayed is always inspirational. Plants are always healthy and seem to transition well into my garden. Pricing is fair, and plants always seem a bit more robust-- I think it is because they actually know how to take care of them. If you are into heirloom tomatoes, they had about 100 varieties last spring!
Happy to tangle in this town!

As a novice to anything related to plants and gardening, I was thrilled to find Tangletown Gardens in my travels through the neighborhood. I stopped in and was amazed at the variety of product that I had never seen before anywhere else. Everyone there was extremely helpful. I had no idea what to buy for my location, or how to plant anything, yet they walked me through the whole process. Having planted all of my many purchases in various venues from planters, to bird baths, etc., I have had numerous compliments. I owe it all to the exemplary customer service from the entire staff.
Tangletown Review

I liked Tangletown's selection, but their plants do not thrive when you take them home. I think that they buy from inferior growers, so that the plants cannot bloom or live that long. (like foil wrapped plants from a grocery store) I have been gardening for many years, but have never had plants act the way the ones I bought from Tangletown did. After having three tropical plants die, I finally spoke to management who then told me it was my own problem. Their customer service has a lot to be desired.
- Pros: good selection, good parking
- Cons: poor value, poor customer service
