The owners of this so called restaurant don't pay their employees what their supposed to be getting and be warned the owners are liars and pretend they are generous around guest but they treat there employes like trash. They also keep the tips we leave there.
Very poor service.
I had very poor experience with this restaurant in MN. We went to almost all restaurants in MN. But of all this has very poor service.
First the Staffs working there are very rude. They wont respect the customers. Even if we ask for any help they wont answer properly.
And Next is the COST. It is very expensive for that kind of food and that kind of service.Very worst of all.
In Lunch, They wont refill the items properly. Each and every time we have to wait for the items.
And the Person in the Billing section is arrogant. I don't know who she is? The worker or someone. But She is very rude to Indians.
Will anyone go to the restaurant where the service, food, hospitality is very poor????????????
I don't recommend this restaurant for any one.I recommend other restaurants like India Palace and any other restaurant for this.
I will give maximum NEGATIVE STARS.
Best Indian Food in Minnesota.
We only eat at Bombay Bistro for the most authentic tasting Indian food. Ajay and staff are consumeant professionals and experts at what they do. The experience is wondering every time.
OK Food, Bad Service.
I have tried Bombay Bistro twice now and both times have left more than a bit to be desired. The food is decent for the price but the atmosphere was a bit more generic than you would expect. Nothing too great. The first time the service was a bit aloof and inattentive. The second time started off OK, but when I got up from a half finished meal to use the restroom I came back to find everything piled on my dinner plate and it was being whisked away. My jacked was still hanging on my chair and I hadn't paid my tab yet., they then tried to up-sell me desert.
In addition there were only 2-3 other tables and it was a very slow night, so I'm not sure why they were in such a hurry to get rid of me but I am quite sure that I will not be returning.
Above Average Indian Food with Worst Possible Service.
Undoubtedly, Bombay Bistro serves more authentic North Indian food compared to the other one-curry-sauce-fits-all-Indian-dishes restaurants. The food is usually well prepared, and the Sunday buffet nicely showcases the chef's talents.
The service on the other hand, is a completely different story altogether. If you are going with a group or to celebrate, you will be better-off at another restaurant. The orders are often mixed-up, and if you order a lamb vindaloo, don't be surprised if the server brings out chicken korma. The service is tardy at best, and non-existent at worst.
Be expected to be seated in a crowded space even if most of the tables are empty. Don't bother asking your sever for a table on the far end where there are no people, as the request shall be denied.
The staff is non-accommodating on good days, and outright rude on others.
Bottom-line: Good food, but how much trouble do you want to go through to get it?
Low self-esteem = Rush yourself to Bombay Bistro
Shard of Self-Respect Left: Go Elsewhere!
I am writing this feedback after my multiple bad experiences with Bombay Bistro. Everytime I went with positive mindset, thinking it could be just me.. but everytime I had a bad experience. The owner is very arrogant and smugged because of the location of the restaurant. The visitors do not have any other choice of Indian cuisine in downtown, so they are left with no other choice.
Let me quote couple of bad experiences with Bombay Bistro.
1) I had 4 gift cards worth $20 each. We went to BB (Bombay Bistro) in group of 10-11 people. Total bill was over $120. The owner refused to take all these gift cards, saying at a time only 1 can be taken. GIVE ME A BREAK. I didn't find any convincing reason for not accepting more than 1 gift card on a given day.
2) BB was called to provide food for a big party. Not more than 120 people attended the party. But, the owner charged for over 200 people. Even if a person took 2 servings in 2 separate plates, this was counted twice. He overcharged us for over $1500. I would consider this as cheating.
3) BB was asked to provide food to a private birthday party. He brought less food to the party, and then when we enquired he said your guests ate more, or more people came.
4) In another instance, BB was asked to provide food to another private birthday party. At the end of the party, he demanded more money than agreed upon. When enquired, he told that he brought more food as contingency.. and all the extra food was consumed by the guests.
Nearly all of my friends have one or another bad experience with this restaurant. The only reason why people go there is that there is no alternative choice for indian food in downtown minneapolis. Otherwise this guy is too smugged to continue business.
excellent food. Went for their buffet on a tuesday afternoon. Quite popular with the local Indian populace. The price was standard for most Indian restaurants, the place itself was clean and well kept, the decor was good too. Service was excellent, and the owner, friendly. The food was standard Northern Indian fare, but well cooked. The buffet spread was not extensive, but had decent variety. There were perhaps around 10 different dishes to sample. Perhaps only the chicken biryani could be a little bit spicer :)
fabulous food. Went for their buffet on a Saturday afternoon. Quite popular with the local Indian populace. The price was standard for most Indian restaurants, the place itself was clean and well kept, if a bit cramped. But service was excellent, and the owner, friendly. The food was standard Northern Indian fare, but well cooked. The buffet spread was not extensive, but had decent variety. There were perhaps around 10 different dishes to sample. Perhaps only the tandoori chicken could be a little bit spicer :)
Excellent food. As I came to US recently from India, I thought I had to forget all the Indian food and prepare for the US food. But when I saw this Bombay Bistro I was surprised whether the food would be alike in India, Off course its same but with less spicy. The biryani was amazingly great and the interior decor of the restaurant was also good. The service was fine. Every food item is fresh and the food i tasted my home in every gulp. It is greqat to have an Indian restaurant in thia place.
Good place for partying. The food was great, we came for a party here. The buffet includes large number of foods. I didn't see this many varieties only in buffet in any part of the Indian restaurant in US. The greatest food of all time in Indian restaurants is Biryani. Which is of greatest taste and tyhe decor is also good to look at and the food is fresh all the time and service seems Ok. But its downtown I dont care of the service for a Buffet to be more good than this.
