In Short – Separated from the hotel check-in desk by a wall of windows, this restaurant feels like two distinct dining spots. The lower level offers contemporary decor with horseshoe-shaped booths and tables in view of a buzzing kitchen. The upper dining room offers views of the hotel valet service. Mediterranean touches give a kick to a hearty, mostly Midwestern menu. Highlights include an alder-smoked salmon appetizer and a meaty grilled pork chop with yams and apples.
Just Decent

Walked in and thought the atmosphere was nice and inviting. We decided to order the Spinach Fondue and that was really good. The bread was a little salty but who doesn't like salt? My wife ordered the walleye and it above average. The corn crust didn't really seem to cover that much. It was more walleye with a light coating of breading. The walleye itself was fresh and didn't taste fishy at all. The fries were really good. I ordered the honey pork-chop based off of previous reviews. It was big but over-cooked. Maybe it was an off night but it wasn't as good as I thought it would be.
Overall, it was a decent meal and might try again but with so many options in downtown, it might be awhile.
- Pros: Nice atmosphere, good service
- Cons: Somewhat over-priced
Hella Pork Chop
by CSMobileUser at Citysearch
The pork chops are huge, impressive, and way tasty. Being quite large, there is no possible way they could be cooked to order in the time afforded an average patron for dinner. Consequently they are cooked earlier and stored. This seems odd, but it is a common practice with large cuts of meat. Ok, so... I received *my* chop and it was barely warm which was unfortunate because I was quite excited. I sent it back to be reheated and it returned a bit browner but still not warm enough. I almost suggested it be brought up to a core temp of at least 150f but elected to finish it as is. If this chop was to temperature, it would have been the best one I have ever had. The apple and yam side was amazing however the rosemary garnish mildly reeked of mildew. It is the opinion of this writer that a bit more attention to the details would propel this restaurant's stellar menu to new heights.
Breakfast. WOW. YUM
by TripleRox at Citysearch
I had breakfast the other day at FireLake for the first time. I can't understand why it was so slow. What a hidden gem. I tried the Asparagus Bruschetta Benedict, it was fantastic. My fiancee had the stuffed french toast. The canadian bacon, they call it something else, was the best I have ever had. The service was terrific. Tyrone treated us like a guest in his home. I loved the open kitchen to watch the Chef's work.
It was a great experience and we will be back soon with friends.
- Pros: Service, Food, Hidden Gem
- Cons: They don't validate parking
