For anyone who cares about their pet....
...this is the ONLY place to board. I have boarded a cat and now three different dogs at the Hound Dog and have nothing but wonderful things to say about the experiences. I assumed my cat would
FREAK at being boarded anywhere simply because he's a cat...but he was calm and happy when I handed him over, and just the same guy as always when I picked him up. The staff even happily indulged my over-protectiveness by letting me "spy" on him for the first 15 minutes or so after I left him.
I appreciate how friendly the staff is, how much they care about the animals, and how they honestly get to know all of them. They are always able to tell me details about my animals' stay and my dogs practically climb over one another to get into the door. And when I pick them up, even after just a few hours of day care, they are clean, happy, and worn out from all of the fun!
I have recommended the Hound Dog to all of my friends and consider this place a second family for my animals. THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO FOR MY ANIMAL FAMILY!!…
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!. My dog was there for two days and as soon as he got home he started explosive diarahea for over 5 days. It's believed that he had some sort of parasite, this place is not safe for dogs.
Never Again. I boarded my dogs over a three day weekend and was horrified with what I saw when I went for pick-up. As I stood in a very long line waiting to pick up my dogs I watched as dog after dog came out and immediately urinated. They clearly hadn't been out for a long time, as it was a substantial quantity and very dark in color. They clearly don't get them out as often as stated. My dogs bed was saturated with urine, and then one of the dogs threw up and it was the other dogs food. They new it was a prescription diet and that they needed to make sure they didn't eat the wrong food. Their lack of care caused a severe flare-up of pancreatitis. When I brought this to the attention of the owner at the front desk I was greeted with complete disregard. She would be better in the back of the business and put someone who smiles at the front desk. Needless to say, I haven't been back to that location nor will I go to her new location. I know of other dogs that go there and have eye infections after every stay. Clearly the sanitation is inadequate. Don't let the gloss and hype sway you. I was thoroughly disappointed.…
A home away from home!.
I am the proud owner of older, high-maintenance dogs that I have refused to board anywhere. As youngsters I boarded them at a Minneapolis kennel and they came home with kennel cough and no voices
left from barking all day. Then I discovered the HDPH! I began with dropping them off for daycare occasionally, and what I found upon picking them up were bathed, tired and HAPPY dogs! The staff was able to tell me how they spent their days, which other dogs they played with, and even had pictures of my boys out in the play yard playing with their new friends. Not one time have my dogs come home hoarse or stressed in any way. When I had the courage to try an overnight stay it was just as wonderful an experience as daycare had been, and we've been boarding there ever since.
I have found boarding kennels to be secretive about what goes on behind the doors after you drop your dog off...unless you schedule a tour you can't see what your dogs are doing! Everyone I have dealt with at the HDPH has been more than willing to show me around and I am always able to see where my dogs are staying, where they get to play outside, etc. They absolutely understand that these boys are not just my pets but my family!
My dogs have special dietary and medical needs and the HDPH staff has taken the time to get to know the dogs, their needs, meds, etc. When I bring the boys, even if it's just for daycare and I haven't called ahead, the staff know my dogs names and my boys can't wait to go play. I have recommended HDPH to many friends and family members, all of whom have had wonderful boarding experiences with dogs and cats, as well.
Thank you for this wonderful place!!…
Can animals speak?.
Listen, last I knew NO ANIMAL can speak and be understood through the human language. Comments about “why didn’t they notice” and the like doesn’t hold much water for me, animals can’t speak and tell
people they are not feeling well.
I guess having different staff work around and the pets throughout the day would be normal….can you imagine being around all those dogs barking and playing all day? I can’t, most people take if for granted there is this king of facility. How many hours do you spend playing with your animals? Maybe an hour at the most on average? These folks are with them ALL day? Come on!!
Hey, for those who don’t have kids here is something for you, they get sick! And guess what, they can get sick at the very daycare centers you may take them. Does that mean yank them out every time they get sick and complain about the center you brought them? Come on!!
As with any disease, there are incubation time frames, bacterial growth rates as well as other biological signs that are missed not only in animals but humans too. I would pose the following question: Did any other pets get sick at the same time frame your dogs were there? I don’t see any other reviews indicating an epidemic or mass illnesses at the facility, so why are your TWO dogs so special that they were the only ones to get sick?
As with anything, those who feel wronged will undoubtedly complain more than those who feel righted.
Our pets have been going to Hound Dog for years and have NO ILLNESSES. The staff is generally very friendly but come-on…..stop being a child….everyone has bad days and can be grumpy and if you are so narrow sighted you cant notice that, maybe that’s why so many people feel so wronged they need to take out their shortcomings on others.
As far as were concerned, Hound Dog is great and will continue to recommend to anyone who asks, we believe in the service. Our kids will continue to go to their daycare center even after getting sick there. But it may not work for everyone because we have common sense and not everyone does!!…
