Plymouth >Jake's City Grille
What a joke!! This place has always been super over priced, but the food used to be good. All I can say is your $ will be much better spent at most other restaurants in the area.
You can judge a restaurant by the parking lot. When I arrived for lunch, the parking lot was Full. Do they have an unusually large number of employees? No. The food and service were that good!
Our waitress, Shayda, was always there to make sure we were ok.
The tab for 4 people's lunch was only $60 + tip.
I will definitely take customers there for lunch again!
I tried it because it is close to my hotel. I asked to look at a menu from the hostess before I sat down. I wanted seafood, but the shrimp I thought I would like came with sausage. The Hostess said I believe they would accommodate you with a substitution, just ask your server. If the hostess would have said no, I would have said thank you and turned around and left.
The waitress came and I asked her to substitute a couple of beer battered fish for the sausage, and the waitress smiled and said it should not be a problem.
10 minutes or so later the waitress comes back and said the Manager said N0, but could give a couple of extra shrimp. That took me totally off guard. That manager has no business experience whatsoever, less yet any common sense. At this point I have about 15 or 20 minutes into this and I just want to eat and go back to my room so I said OK.
10 of 15 minutes later the food came. The shrimp was cold and the mashed potatoes were cold. I left the end of the tail of the shrimp I tried on the plate. The waitress came, apologized, and took it back.
10 minutes later the food came back again. The pile of once crispy onion strings were wilted and laying flat. The shrimp I tried was hard as a rock. Yes it was hot. But they re-cooked the original food hard, and let the onion strings get saggy. I don't know if they threw the food back on the grill or microwaved it. But they definitely re-cooked the same food I sent back because the end of the tail from the shrimp I ate before I sent it back when it was cold was still laying on the side of the plate. How disgusting.
The manager had the audacity to give me $10 off my bill. I expense this meal. I could care less about the lousy $10.
When I got back to my hotel I told the concierge about my experience there. He said he rarely sends people there, and now, never will.
I will also let the folks at the office here in Plymouth know what happened, and the business travelers back at my home office that come here as well.
The servers were very friendly and efficient.
First I don't get accommodated on a substitution, then I get cold food, then I get that same food back with overcooked shrimp and saggy onion strings. And I get offered $10 off? How about the manager coming out and just offering me some edible food that I will gladly pay for?
The manager is in the wrong business.
Stay Away. There are better places close by. Axel's Bon Fire 2 blocks away (I went to last night), and Famous Dave's (which we also have in California) just down the road.
Best burger in town!. Jake's has the best burgers in town. Juicy and fresh bun - cooked perfectly to your liking. Love it!
$4.00 for 10 oz of beer?!?. 4 of us went to lunch today at Jake's and we each had, in addition to our lunch entree's, 2- 10 oz beers. When we got our bill, it was $83! Granted, 1 of us had a steak entree that was $20, but the rest of us had entrees ranging from $8.50-$1. The culprit? $4 10 oz. beers (summit, leinie's creamy dark)! The bland fizzy yellow macros were $3 for 10 oz., also a huge rip off. At $4 per 10 oz, that's $0.40 per ounce, which is on par with prices at some of the more expensive major league ballparks. The food is also on the overpriced side. With so many options for lunch in the area, I don't know why I'd be back.
