Roto Rooter the Rip Off

Never, ever have I been so disgusted and disappointed in a service company as I currently am with Roto Rooter. I've lived in my house for four years and have had RR out every six months (at $250+ a pop) to clear tree roots from our main drain. Three and a half years ago we had RR send a camera down and we discovered a crack in the main. RR assured us it wasn't critical and at some point it would probably need to be replaced. Most recently, RR was out in August and gave us a 6-month guarantee on the work. Sewer backed up on Thanksgiving day so RR was the first call. After a mere three months, the guarantee disappeared and we were charged again -- another $250. We decided enough was enough and called a few plumbing specialists to come look at the main give us a bid on the repair work. Boy were we surprised when the contractors couldn't get a camera through because the main was blocked with tree roots. We called RR and they sent someone out to look at it again. Even though they were just out two weeks ago, they wanted to charge us again to clear the main. So much for a 6-month guarantee, we can't even get a two week guarantee. RR said they would be more than happy to send a camera down to check on the problem, for $150 or they would give us a 10% discount on having the main cleared…again. No refund, no guarantee and no work done. Stay away from RR. Nothing more than a scam and a ripoff.

Don't Use Benjamin FranklinQ

So, I'm redoing my kitchen and call Gavic (now Benjamin Franklin) to get an estimate for moving a sink drain, hooking up a new dishwasher, refrig and stove. Dude shows up and after an hour of poking around, gives me the following estimate: $900 for moving the drain (pricey), $600 for plumbing the already-installed sink (ahhh... what?) $300 for hooking up the dishwasher (what a sec here...) $176 for hooking up the fridge -- one small water line for ice (c'mon...) and, the coup de grais $479 for hooking up the range -- one gas line with a valve and coupling already at the stove (get the heck out of my house!!)

Bottom line, this plumber practices PREDITORY PRICING. Buyer beware!!

Good Service - Friendly technicians

He was late, but we received updates on his status. He explained the issues we had and gave us options to correct the problem. The technician wasn't pushy about the repairs and was friendly.
