What People Are Saying About La Loma Mexican Restaurant

In Short – Lively Mexican music plays over the stereo system as a diverse group of Eat Street neighbors and folks from the Wedge laugh and linger over their meals. A floor-to-ceiling wall of storefront windows lets in light, and the lime, yellow and blue stucco walls add cheer. All the dishes are made-to-order. Flauntas are stuffed with chicken and garnished with pico, chili rellenos are full of cheese and herbs and sirlon is offfset by lime juice.
Editor's Tips
- Where to Sit:
- Try to get a window table at the front of the dining room--these sunny seats are great for people-watching.
Love the tamales
by TravisSmith at Citysearch
The tamales are the best thing ever, Carnitas are good too but I always order at least one whenever I come. The staff is nice and have good customer service. I am never disappointed when I come here.
- Pros: tamales, carnitas
Great food, bad service
by GretchenJennie at Citysearch
We went to Morelos Grill last night and the food really was wonderful. The only problem was that our server seemed to be the only one serving the dinner crowd (about 7 pm). She brought me the wrong dish, and didn't come back with my side of sour cream AT ALL (which I asked her for twice). It took 20 minutes to track her down to get the food I actually ordered. We will try it again, but I sincerely hope they add more servers for the dinner crowd, because our experience would have been much more pleasant had we been able to get the correct food and sides in a timely manner.
- Pros: great food, nice atmosphere, reasonably price
- Cons: slow service
Rock on Morelos

I ended up in this restaurant by pure luck. Best luck ever. My friend and I ordered the (bucket of meat - loose translation) and it was fantastic. I went back again and got the chorizo burrito, also fantastic. This is by far the best Mexican food I've had this side of Mexico. Go there immediately.
- Pros: authentic, tasty, flavorful
- Cons: small tap beer list, uptown parking

Used To Be Great
by TaylorRoot at Citysearch
Formerly "Taco Morelos", this place use to be my favorite. I first visited this place many years ago, and found completely authentic Mexican cuisine, servers that only spoke Spanish, and eye watering burritos. Well...since it's been discovered by the local media and hyped on the "Best of" List, the food has gotten "Blandi" (The term I use for food made bland to appeal to the local Scandinavian culture). Gone are the quaint simple menus, huge portions, low prices, and primarily Hispanic crowd. Now we see Beemers with gum smacking suburban chics picking up take out. It's still a good place, but no longer great. I am happy to see them succeed with three locations.
- Pros: in the city, nice decor, good service
- Cons: not authentic, expensive, bland
