We stopped in for a happy hour drink and ended up staying several hours, eating dinner, and watching the NBA Finals. Staff was awesome. The atmosphere was great and the food was amazing. I ate the ribs and my fiancé had fish tacos. We both agreed it was the best food we had during our trip to the area. I highly recommend stopping into this place!

Best Coconut Shrimp in Town - Party atmosphere too! – The service was top-notch and was very attentive and responded to our requests.

The food at Kokomos was some of the best tasting in the mall, especially the fish tacos and Cuban sandwich. A lot of places attempt both of these but this place has their finger on the pulse of island dining. the fish tacos were the freshed I have ever tasted and didn't load the batter on them but gave you fish instead.

Their Cuban sandwich had a twist to it with a little crushed pineapple, which I ordered on the side and when it came I tried a bite with the pineapple which turned out to taste really yummie so I put it on the whole thing.

Our server was always there with drink refills and he even pulled out hula hoops for us to try, didn't but added a lot of fun to the visit

If you are looking for something super classy at the Mall of America, try Napa Valley Grille which is more money or maybe Crave with no fun, but if you're looking for a laid back atmosphere with tropical colors, then Kokomo's fits that ticket perfectly. Also we were too late but happy hour looked like a home run, have to come back for it.

Best Restaurant Escape While in Mall of America – Wow! What an amazing escape from the craziness in the Mall of America!

So, my wife convinced me to take the kids to the Mall last weekend. Shop, go on rides, visit the Aquarium.... Make a day of it. Needless to say, the Mall was busy; people everywhere. Just when I thought I couldn't take any more, and everyone was starving, we decided to check out the restaurants on the south side of the 3rd floor. Many to choose from but the kids loved the outside of Kokomo's Island Cafe. Fun music, lots of color, cool waterfalls, etc. It reminded me of trips with my wife (before kids), a cross between Key West and the Bahama's.

From the moment we entered, all of my Mall stress was relieved. The hosts were warm and friendly, and our server was the absolute BEST! She recommended their Tilapia in a banana leaf for me, Kokonut Chicken Salad for my wife, and though I think the kids had a better time hula hooping with the staff, they really liked their food as well. (We all know that's what really counts). Great recommendations! Oh, by the way, we had their Banana's Foster Cheesecake for dessert; Unbelievable as well!

So, as much as I dont like shopping, Kokomo's, and their staff, made our day and we will definitely be back next time we are in the Mall.

Thanks Kokomo's! You certainly made our trip a sunny one!

Great food and Amazing atmosphere – Went to this restaurant last night - while the Mall was not very busy this restaurant was really busy and for good reason - the coconut shrimp was the best I have ever had and my friend had the shrimp enchiladas which he loved. The service was some of the best - I wonder what happened to the guy from 9/19 as this was not our experience at all - loved the island atmosphere - we travel often to the islands and this place made us long for another trip - gotta try this one!

Fabulous Fish Selections – Best Blackened Grouper

I have had blackened grouper in 5 different states other than Minnesota and this was by far the best flavor with the black beans and crunchy rice, you can also sub spicy green beans, FABULOUS Food can't wait to get back to Twin cities

Worst Service I've Ever Seen! Seriously! – Kokomo's by far gave me the worst service I have ever gotten. Here's the short review: After an hour at the restaurant I never even got a food menu, and those that had ordered food around me never got their food.

Now here is the play by play.

First 10 minutes: We waited for a server. That's not terrible, so we were still in a good mood. When the server came we asked for a drink menu and a food menu.

5 minutes Later: The server finally comes by with a drink menu. She forgot the food menu. She says she will grab us one.

10 minutes Later: The server takes our drink order but forgets the food menu again.

15 minutes later: The server gives us our drinks, and forgets the food menu again. She says she will get that right away.

30 minutes later: We just go up to the bar and ask the bartender for our bill. We never got a food menu, and the server never came back to our table. There were three other tables doing the same thing as me. Apparently they had been waiting over an hour for their food.

We wasted an hour of our lives there, and we will never go back again. There are a lot of good places in MOA you can go to, don't waste your time at Kokomo's. Whenever you have to go to McDonalds after your night at a restaurant just to get some food... well, that's just ridiculous.

Welcome all parties!!! Time to have some fun!!! – Living out of town and my whole family in the cities I was in a bind for my daughters graduation party. We decided to have her open house at Kokomo's Island Cafe. I think this was the best decision I have ever made! The management staff and servers were absolutely spectacular! The great thing about their backroom facility was that I hardly had to do any decorations. What a fun theme for our party. Who doesn't love a little Jamaican fun! The management staff let us bring in any decorations that we wanted and they even took care of placing things were I wanted them to go. All I had to do was point. They had great ideas for the event that I didn't even think of and were at my service whenever I needed it. What a relief to have someone else prepare all the food, stage it, keep it full and clean up after. I didn't have to enlist any of my family for help. Plus, I got to enjoy and visit with all the guest. We had around 100 people come to the graudation party. Parents can you think of a more relaxing idea for such a stressful situation. Everyone could not believe how wonderful the food was and what a great variety. The servers were so friendly and helpful they actually felt like family. I love a place that is so comforting. The management staff suggested these cool non-alcholic drinks that were smokin'. And I mean literary smokin'. My daughter couldn't believe it. Fun! Next event that I plan on having will be held at the "Island". The best experience that I have had. I would definately recommend this for a graduation party or any other event that you have. Thank you Kokomo's!

Not our favorite – Our waitress was horrible! We noticed other patrons getting great service, but we were treated poorly. I'm actually still waiting for the mustard I ordered yesterday! They nickel and dime you with adding extra fees for anything other than potato chips. Our bill was $12.00 more with adding french fries and 1 order of onion rings to our meals. When our food finally arrived, half of it was cold. My plate was chipped. The entire restaurant felt cheap. We expected something more upscale and comparable to Bubba Gumps/Dave's BBQ/The Rainforest Cafe. Two of our five meals were delicious; the fish tacos and the sweet chili chicken wings. The hampburgers and chicken nuggets (adults version) were subpar to say the least! Overall, it was not a good experience for $70.00. Given the choice, we would not go back. I'm truly sorry to say that because we were really looking forward to going to Kokomo's Island Cafe and they really let us down. Best of luck if you go!
