44.980115 -93.235913Poor customer service. When I went to get my hair done at HCX, I asked for natural, cool toned blonde highlights. Unfortunately, they turned out completely yellow and orange. I asked my stylist to redo them, which she did (she was very nice), and they turned out even worse. She ended up foiling them multiple times, and by this point it was late at night and my hair was fried. I was charged nearly double the price listed on the website. I left upset, and tried to call the manager the next day. I was told she would call me back by 4pm. She never called. At that point, I couldn't go out in public without feeling like Bobo the Clown, so I made a new appointment at a different salon. The new stylist spent hours on my hair, stripped it of all the color, recolored it, gave it a deep conditioning, and cut off 3 inches (because of all the damage). This cost over $200 and I was there for about 4 hours. On Monday, I called the manager of HCX SEVERAL times, with her still not returning my call. When she finally did, she was extremely rude, often interrupting me and "shhh"ing me, telling me that she believed her hairstylists over me (her customer). I told her this was very poor customer service and that I would be filing a BBB complaint. She then became a little friendlier, but told me I would need to go in in person to show her my hair. After explaining multiple times to her that there was nothing to see because I got it redone, she ended up interrupting me and hung up. Not only does their website falsely advertise prices (I was charged $95 for a partial foil that was advertised as $65), but their quality of customer service is unbelievably terrible. My stylist was super nice, but clearly didn't really do what I wanted.
Stylists that actually know HAIR!.
Rick and Amy (tatoos, sorry I keep forgetting your last name!) are the BEST! If you're in your young 20s and looking for stylists that are actually up-to-date with fashion and trends, go here for haircuts and color. I am never disappointed. They even keep your profile and hair color codes in their computer system so the stylist can refer back to it. Although they do designer cuts and color on the higher end of the price scale (my cuts were around $30), it's well worth it.
I started going to this Dinkytown HCX salon during my undergrad years at UMN. I have naturally wavy textured hair, so previous stylists at other salons constantly tell me how difficult my hair is. So to have Rick and Amy be so precise and know how to cut my texture of hair the first time around is beyond belief to me. They both may not talk much while cutting hair, but that's better than talking too much and giving a bad haircut. At least I know they're paying attention!
Haven't been back in over a year since I graduated the U, but definitely miss stylists that know how to cut my hair perfectly!!!!!
