What People Are Saying About Wilde Roast Cafe

Inspired by Victorian-era charm and elegance, this Northeast coffee shop and café is anything but stuffy. Large windows look out onto a bustling area of Hennepin Avenue, while the dark-wood décor, oversized chairs and tall bistro tables offer a place to escape. Folks hunker over laptops and frothy drinks as they nibble on the café’s homemade sandwiches, gourmet pizzas and scratch-made desserts. And during evening hours, the cozy café offers up pasta dishes, wine specials and more.

Editor's Tips

Parking:
This area of Northeast often requires metered parking or endlessly searching for a spot. Wilde Roast, however, sports its very own parking lot just right (the street is one-way) of the building.
Save Money:
Wilde Roast offers “Cheap Date Nights” Monday through Thursday, where $25 gets you two bottomless glasses of red or white wine and two pizzas and/or salad for $25. And Sundays and Mondays promise half-price wine bottles, with purchase of food.

Bland overpriced food, but great atmosphere!

by veggie212 at Citysearch

Had a small personal pizza about 8 inches (Bland as chef boyardee) and a can of coke - price: $13.27

Husband had a Rachel sandwich and the Chevre app, a bottle of reeds ginger brew, and a creme puff

Total for him - about $30, for real!

I would never eat there again, but would go for the coffee and desserts.

  • Pros: Comfortable, WIFI, good coffee and desserts
  • Cons: Food is mediocre at best and EXTREMELY expensive

Requires a few tweaks!

by hage0269 at Citysearch

Atmospher is SO relaxing here. Nice lighting, browns, artwork, fireplace, live music, variety of seating options. The coffee is the best in town. The desserts are to die for. I think the food is trying too hard. Most is very good (I do not like the salad dressing) but I think would better if they had some good, hearty, home cooking. Think soups, salads, meat loaf, mac/cheese, bread pudding, etc. A great spot none-the-less

  • Pros: Coffee, Desserts, Ambience
  • Cons: Weird intersection makes parking semi-difficult to access, fancy food

Horrible food

I live in the neighborhood and I really wanted to love this place...but I can't. I have been here several times and the only thing on the menu that is good are the cornmeal pancakes for brunch/breakfast. The rest of it...bland, dry, tasteless and overpriced. Oh, don't forget the rude service on the side. The lattes are good too and that's about it. One more thing, I strongly question the sanitation of the place...my boyfriend swears he saw creature scurrying across the floor but in an effort not to scare the s**t out of my mother he kept quite. Go down the street to Brasa or the Bulldog for good food and friendlier people.

  • Pros: The interior is cool and unique
  • Cons: Pretty much the rest

Disapointed...not too veggie friendly-be careful, there are some things that seem vegetarian and are not

by jackieswenson at Citysearch

I ate here on the recommend of a friend...it was not very good. I am a vegetarian and so is my husband. We later found out that our order contained gelatin. Very sad. I was also upset due to the fact that there was no where to sit. The place was packed with single people and their laptops-we did ask someone who was just nursing a cup of coffee if we could share the table with him. (it sat 4) He just left. Oh well..this is maybe an ok place if you just want some coffee or a dessert-I certainly would not eat here again. Also, the bill was 45.00 (inc tip) for 2. Yikes!

Meh

by byro0028 at Citysearch

This place is okay. The coffee is good, as are the pastries and sweet treats but the entrees are too pricey for what they are. And what they are, what they is, is dry and kind of tasteless. I had the mac and cheese and a salad and it wasn't worth the money. Honestly, save your money...we're in a recession!

  • Pros: Good atmosphere
  • Cons: Lousy service, poor tasting food--very bland
