Tips for Uptown Diner

the perfect diner. I first went to the Uptown Diner with a friend of mine on New Year's eve. We mistakenly thought the Tea Garden would be open, but the holiday hours had changed, so we needed a different place to eat. Fortunately, we headed across the street to this little joint, which was open 24 hours.

Just a couple weeks later, I came back after a concert at The Beat at around 11:00 at night, and we all ordered all sorts of stuff-seasoned waffle fries, huge cinnamon rolls, french toast, and malts. The food is great. Not so gourmet or original, but tasty nonetheless. Plus, the staff is friendly and tolerant of big, noisy groups.

This place has everything you'd look for in a diner, and I recommend it to everyone.

Awsome Diner!. This place is happening. I read the past reviews and noticed that they got this place confused with the Uptown Bar, which is now closed down. Also I checked with the Healt Department and there was no fd psning cases reported. Their hours are a little weird, they are only open 6am till 3pm Monday-Wednesday and then they're 24 hours Thursday-Sunday. Portions were huge and no upcharging for the seasoned waffle fries. Their menu has a real southern theme to it, blackened catfish, cajun breakfast, biscuts and gravey, a country fried steak, and a po boy sandwich. They have all the normal diner foods like omellets, pancakes, waffels, burgers and sandwiches. Had a great experience and would recomend.

Best Omlet in TOWN!. This is hands down the best place to go for food after the bar or club, or for Sunday Brunch. The service is very friendly, they do a great job handling the crowd and you definately get your monies worth when it comes to the portions! They allow large groups to split their tab at the registers!. I really have no complaints, every time I have frequented the diner I have been pleased.

Stomach Virus. The food tastes great but my girlfriend got a really terrible case of fd psning (I guess you cant use that word in this review) from the garden omelet meal. She has the rns and violent vmting.

Not the most sanitary place in the city. You can tell when you enter and sit down.

If you do decide to eat here, make sure they cook your food thoroughly. Food taste good but Im not sure if its worth the risk.

My favorite spot for brunch. My girlfriend and I go to the Uptown Diner for Saturday or Sunday brunch a couple times a month. There is always a line of people in the entry but it always moves fast. We usually get seated within two minutes of walking in the door. They really turn the tables over quickly. The key is that they bring the food minutes after you order it--seriously, it's impressive.

My girlfriend and I always order the same thing. Maybe that makes us boring, but we really love what they serve. She gets the french toast and I get eggs and toast. Our bill is always under $20-perfect for our budget. We get great service, we love the music. We usually end up having such a good time that we sit there for while after we're done and the servers don't seem to mind.

Another reviewer said that he felt the meal was too expensive, mediocre, and that he was pushed out of his table early. I hope what I have said clearly addresses each point. They turn the tables fast by seating folks quickly, serving them quickly, and cleaning off the tables quickly after they leave. In short, it's a well run business. They have to be on their toes to keep up with the high demand. Theank god they move fast or they'd never be able to serve us all.

Best post bar eats on the weekend!. If you need somewhere to go after the bar for a giant (seriously!) breakfast, a good burger, or just a milkshake, this is definately the place. I love the crab cake beni, the veggie tex mex, and the cajun breakfast. The carmel rolls are to DIE for, but don't expect to be able to eat one without the help of a hungry friend. While others commented on the high price of the food, I have to disagree... (have you been to Perkins lately!?) you could easily get three meals out of a breakfast, or split it (I think it's $2.00 but it seems you get even more food that way) and each have lunch the next day.

The people watching is great, everyone from punks to your parents ( and everything in between). The service is great, considering there's usually a line out the door after bar close. There are a few servers in particular that we really look forward to seeing. They always seem to be chipper, my coffee is always full, and the food is always astonishingly quick.

GREAT FOOD, LARGE PORTIONS AND RACISM?. GREAT FOOD, LARGE PORTIONS, GETTING MY MONIES WORTH MADE ME COME BACK! POOR SERVICE FROM THE BLONDE is what my children will remember. I was born in the sixties and I felt like I was right in the middle of it all. My first experience here was great!!!! It beckoned me to bring my family, so I did we ended up sitting in two different booths and were treated in a very discriminatory manner. I'll always remember the four bouncers at the table of six and the family of six in two booths, talk about accommodating! What happened here should not happen anywhere! Thanks for the large portions of food but when my son was told to "eat at McDonald?s boy"; I realized Racism is definitely served here! God Bless you all.

Nice and casual. I've always gotten great service at Uptown Diner, and holy mackerel, the portions are huge. When I'm out and about, and feel like eating an enormous omelet and a huge pile of hash browns, Uptown Diner is the only place I even consider. The servers are friendly, very cool, and attentive to things like making sure my iced tea is refilled, etc. And oh, that chocolate cake... sometimes it really hits the spot.

Great on Friday & Saturday night. Uptown Diner has my favorite eggs benedict... it may not be anything out of this world but it's open 24 hours on the weekends and I'd take it over Perkins or Denny's ANY day. The Cajun breakfast is anything but bland for those making that complaint. The service may not be great when it's busy, but for the hours and location and portion size, the prices are extremely reasonable.
