In Short
For more than 13 years, the Soap Factory--the third-largest gallery in the Twin Cities--has been the birthplace for a handful of local artists. That's because the progressive and always active Soap dedicates itself to building a community of nee ideas and new artists. During the winter months, this 10,000-sq.ft space isn't heated, so its curators and artists (as many as 100) take to the ice for Medicine Lake's annual Art Shanty projects. But April through November, the National Purity Soap Company building is home to expansive and curious shows that include video installations, photography, performance art, paintings, sculpture and every art piece under Minnesota's sweet sun.
