In Short – Exposed brick, stamped-tin ceiling and dark wood booths combine with candlelight and mirrors to create a beguiling sense of bistro spirit and romance at this small independent eatery. A menu that meets all budgets mixes upscale dining options with daringly delicious spins on bar food. A popular bacon and egg sandwich gets swiped with hot harissa, while the rib eye are grilled to juicy perfection. Finish with the tres leches cake, a moist confection served in a rich puddle of cream.
Some good some bad

I really do like this restaurant. My only issue is that some of the dishes are hit or miss. We went there and enjoyed some of it immensely and well some of the dishes I could have done without.
The staff was friendly and the place was welcoming so I think I'll head back here again sometime and give it a second chance.
- Pros: A few of my faves
- Cons: Some not so hot dishes as well
Absolutely horrible

This place is known among many cooks in the Twin Cities to be the "it spot" for a nice melange of tapas style dishes.
Our table of six came in and we were essentially ignored.
We waited for over a half an hour for our drink orders to be taken.
The waitress told us that we "HAD to order food too, this is not a TGI Fridays."
We were very hungry and had questions about several items.
We were ignored repeatedly when we wanted to get food.
Finally when our rude server came to the table we asked if we could please order, and she told us the kitchen was closing.
We must have tried over 10 times to order, yet it seemed that she could care less about taking an order, or serving bread or even being nice.
All we got were rolled eyes, condescension, and a rush to leave.
The Chefs from my restaurant were absolutely appaled.
We demanded to see Isaac. Three of our cooks had a great working relationship with him.
When push came to shove the waitress said firmly "No! she was not going to get him and to leave now."
All we did was come in and want a meal-together as one of our cooks was going to leave La Belle Vie.
That did not stand with us so we called Issac on a cell phone.
To his merit he came out and immediately assured us we were going to eat.
Our waitress literally glared at us in utter contempt.
She brought out our food slammed it on the table and then left us sitting there....no water refills, no offers of any beverage....nothing.
We called Issac again and told him how we were being treated, and he comped the meal including beverages, and on top of that bought another round.
By then our waitress was seething with anger.
We finally called her out wondering why she was so hostile, when we just wanted to eat.
She told us she was sick of a-hole chefs and could we just #%$ing leave.
We did. In fact we tipped her .01 for her top notch service. With a note on manners.
Had she been kind we were prepared to tip her very very very well.
We usually do 50% for servers that rule.
This one got what she was worth.
She single handedly angered our entire bevy of chefs.
It's too bad. We used to send a lot of business their way.
Not anymore. Not worth the treatment.
Although Issac did what he could there simply is no excuse for anything like this in a restaurant.
Even an overworked waitress at a late night Denny's has more matters than the miscreant we encountered
The server in question was fired we hear. Yet the experience was so disheartening that we will never ever set foot in there again.
- Pros: Isaac, nobody else
- Cons: Everything
112 . . . for those in the know

Alright, I just reviewed the reviews for 112 Eatery and urge everyone out there to ignore the bad reviews. I've eaten at 112 for years and having just moved to Chicago a little less than a year ago am arriving in town soon and the first thing that I am going to do is take the train from the airport, rush to 112, and promptly order a glass of wine and some steak tartare.
Allow me to point out a couple of points to the disgruntled: 1) You cannot complain about the food, no way, no how. This is the place that chefs, cook, and servers eat when they get off their shifts. 2) Get over your suburban, entitled attitude that the server is their to entertain you. They are certainly not. They are there to quickly and efficiently serve you food and drink. 3) It is not, I repeat, not normal to expect something free on your birthday. 4) No you cannot get a reservation at 7. It clogs up that table for the restaurant because they could have seated it at 6 and again at 8 instead of having you roll in at 7, a perfectly normal dinner hour if your staying in.
Go to 112. Go to 112. Go to 112.
- Pros: steak tartare, variety of price points, ambience
- Cons: hard to get a reservation
