In Short – Practice free-throw skills and pick up NBA merchandise at this basketball-themed eatery (including menu covers that feel like a real basketball). The fare is notches above the standard pub grub featuring walleye tacos, Philly cheese sandwiches and brick oven pizzas. A relaxed group of pre-gamers gather in the Courtside Bar, located behind the players' arena entrance, to watch the team head to the court. Those without tickets can see the game on state-of-the-art LCD TVs. –

What a mess! Skip this restaurant for sure!!

I can’t believe this place is still in business!

We went to the NBA City restaurant ONLY because it was the only place taking a reservation on a Friday night and I was dining with two 12-year-olds. We were planning a night out in downtown before the Britney Spears concert and while I would have much more preferred even Champps (not really), waiting in the bar for a table just wasn’t going to work that night.

NBA City was a ghost town. We were there on a Friday night from about 5:00-7:00pm and we were one table of maybe 8-10 in the whole place with diners. There were a couple of people at the bar (literally two), but overall the place was dead.

Our server was annoying and steered us away from MANY entrees that she claimed weren’t great. Hello? Red flag!! I appreciated her honesty, but in the end when she recommended their pizzas and the 12-year-olds just picked at it, I didn’t have to ask any other questions. The malt came out unblended and had to be taken back, and the chicken fingers (a signature item) were so hard, I couldn’t even bit into them. Not to mention, they were raw and very “pink” on the inside.

Overall, this was just a waste of money. And the place isn’t cheap due to it being located in the Target Center itself. Again, I would be surprised if this place made it through the summer. Thanks, but no thanks!

  • Pros: Location, convenient before games and concerts.
  • Cons: FOOD! Service, price for what you get, food, food, food ...

Meh....

by midnala

I went last Sat with someone who really raved about the food (though other friends said the food was not very good). Got the bruschetta salad with chicken - the chicken was kind of blah, the "salad" part was overdressed, and it was served "deconstructed" (not how it was described). The head chef seems to aspire to a trendier experience, but this is called NBA City, and is classified as a sports bar/restaurant.I was not really impressed...maybe if I had gotten the wings I would have had a better experience.

  • Pros: Apparently the quesadillas and wings, though I would not know.

Former NBA City Employee's review of NBA city

by FrigidRubyPrecipitation

NBA City's atmosphere is someplace I would be proud to take my family around. If you're with the pickiest of eaters (like my former fiancee), they have familiar food with a twist that even the pickiest of all eaters would enjoy. I would highly recommend their wings and their ever popular hamburgers. Even though I haven't eaten them before, my non-vegetarian friends LOVE their burgers and wings. One of the things I've eaten before, the Margherita pizza, has a thin, crisp crust and the sauce is a tangy marinara with fresh tomatoes topping the fine mozzarella.

The eating experience is enhanced by their amenities. There's high speed wifi so you can surf the web while snacking on your succulent and juicy wings and television screens showing many games of importance (Yes, Timberwolves fans, that includes even Nuggets games) and even English Premiership soccer, Australian Football League and Rugby Union and Rugby League games from all over the world.

It's as much fun to work there (Hey Jeff, how's it going!?) as it is to eat there. The vegetarian selection, even though is small, has a good selection of salads and pastas. That's important if you're a vegetarian (like me), you wouldn't feel left out like you do at other restaurants.

I've moved on in life to bigger and better things in life, so that's why I don't work at NBA City anymore, but I will always miss working there. However, I can always come back to eat!

  • Pros: Good old fashioned food, a variety of drinks at the bar, large portions
  • Cons: The budget concious may be a bit wary of some of their more popular items.
