In Short
The food's presentation matches the theatrical vibe in this sprawling architectural showpiece. A central silver-and-black cooking area lets well-heeled clientele watch master chefs in action while curved floor-to-ceiling windows overlook a river view patio with playwrights' images on supporting pillars. A New American menu focuses on farm-to-city seasonal ingredients, delivering a dazzle of dishes: Green gazpacho with lime creme fraiche, Wisconsin elk roast with dark cherries, cheesecake with rhubarb and strawberry ice cream.

I'm not entirely sure what people are ranting about...amazing space, spectacular service and superior food. Our waiter respected our time, didn't rush us and was incredibly polite. Each dish was perfectly prepared and arrived in perfect time. No complaints. We were taken care of. If you think more money=more food, perhaps you should try Burger King. Cue delivers exceptional value because their menu features cuisine and an actual menu I was excited to order from. If you are looking for an upscale dining experience, I recommend Cue.

The new Guthrie theatre is beautiful and Cue is no exception. The restaurant offers a great place to gather before/after a show and enjoy time with your companion. The food was good but a little too expensive compared to value and quality.

I've looked at reviews on sites like this many times, and I've always toyed with the idea of writing a review myself. I guess it just takes either a very good or a very bad experience to motivate oneself... I was in Cue on Friday night with a good friend. We were honestly a bit worried that we would end up spending too much money by even entering the building. What actually happened kind of restored my faith in humanity--the economy is in the toilet, I payed $50 to refuel my tiny little car that very same afternoon--need I explain why sales people can begin to feel like sharks who smell bl**d (apparently I am not allowed by City Search to use that word with 2 'o's in it--I didn't realize it was a swear word), in the water? Actually our server was that 'Minnesota' kind of friendly--I instantly knew that she didn't want to rifle through my pockets for my last dime, which was enough to work the nervous kink out of my shoulder. In fact, we were surprised by the fact that there was a live jazz band setting up, preparing to offer us a free show! My girlfriend and I settled in to our cozy booth, and ordered a cocktail. After catching up on some long overdue gossip, we decided to try out the wine flight "paired with the jazz music"--"big reds with big band," or something of that sort... The "Wine Captain"--a very military-sounding, yet very friendly brunette woman--came over to pour the wines and chatted with us about them. Her enthusiasm was infectious, but please don't quiz me on what she told us--all I know is that the wines she poured for us were really good, and, yes, by gosh I even think they "vibed" with the music. We enjoyed our booth for quite a while, and felt completely comfortable even though we only ordered crab cakes (yum!), and an entree between us. Our water glasses were kept full, and we felt well-served (yet undisturbed), while we caught up on conversation and enjoyed the music. Honestly, the night was just... perfect.
