V.I.P. = I Didn't feel VERY IMPORTANT PEOPLE.
One strength this club has is because it is DJ'd by KDWB they usually play pretty good and recent music. Cover is pretty cheap and the club has a nice and clean setting. Either than that, everything else dealing with service is pretty bad, along with some under-dressed guys in jeans, etc, who get into horrible dance battles that hog up the whole dance floor.
We've planned two birthdays here only to be filled with some surprise extra charges we thought were already part of the package. 1st birthday we were told it would be $150 with a bottle --- ended up being $250.. 2nd ( a year after) we went we rented out their biggest room ($300) only to be told we weren't going to have a bartender b/c they were "short-staffed" that day because someone called in sick and the other was just fired that day. Later the owner says that the reason why we don't have a bartender in that room was b/c it would have been an extra $100-200 (which we weren't aware of). Complaining to the owner he switched us down to the DJ booth VIP section (which costs half the price of our earlier room). Asking for a partial refund or compensation (a bottle of liquor) for our $300 the owner refused. Wondering where her $300 VIP rental went to, the Golden Birthday Girl ended up crying about how she felt ripped off. To get downgraded half the price of what we payed and still get no bottle? We were better staying in the earlier bartender-less room! Eventually the owner comes out with the cheapest $10 bottle of Karkov Vodka you can find at any grocery store. Because we wanted it to be a good night we made it a good night. However, having to pretty much beg the owner and make the birthday girl cry for him to make it right for his customers? You tell me. It would have been easier if he made it right in the first place.Also, what's the whole point of paying VIP if random strangers always end up walking into your space you paid for?
Overall, the owner tends to be quite vague with his deals so unless you've got it written in paper about what you're VIP package is for the night, don't trust that what price he mentions will be the price you pay that night when you go. None of the VIP prices are mentioned on the website so maybe that's why the prices stock market overnight. Lastly, I'm just greatly disappointed b/c it was a slow night and the owner still refused to give us extra attention to make our experience better. Seemed like we were the only ones who rented out a VIP section that night only to be let down. I've been to a lot of clubs and even when they're busy their service was not even half as bad. The owner tries to be nice but it surely doesn't feel genuine. I'm not saying I wouldn't recommend going to this club I'm but not saying I will recommend it also. Just make sure there is no miscommunication. ***Btw, I think one of my girl friends got her butt grabbed by one of the bouncers... SMH!!!
Great Place for a Swanky Cocktail Party.
We recently had our wedding reception at Valentino's. We had a non-traditional reception; more of a swanky cocktail party in the Martini Lounge. We couldn't have been more pleased with the management, service, food, and overall outcome of the event. Thanks Mary and Ed for all your help in the preparation and planning.

If you go, hold on to your purse!. It would appear that Valentino's has a large problem with stolen purses. I had my purse set on a ledge next to me on 7/11, I was approached by about 7 women and as one started a conversation with me in order to distract, her friends made off with my bag. I reported it to the DJ right away and my boyfriend alerted the bouncers. One bouncer admitted that it happens frequently and it would be found in the bathroom. And it was, sans cash, credit cards and my camera. Obviously it was a planned maneuver and I have highly discouraged people from going to this bar in the future. We were taken here on a party bus and none of us will ever come back. I can say that I do appreciate that the DJ made an announcement right away and that the bouncer we dealt with was extremely empathetic which I am sure comes with all the practice he has had with situations like this.
Mangment needs to change.
My couple friends of mine went and feel in love, one fell in love with the setting so much that she planned to have her after party there the night of her brunch wedding in May. After talking with the managment it started looking less apealing. First the rep didn't have any idea of how to set up a room for her and told her she would have to come in a on sat night to speak with a night manager (its a sat night, now way is a night manger going to have time to talk to a bride about reserving a room for 50 people in may) nor will they have time to cordinate with the other vendors.
Then after she worked out the details her self and called to confirm that everything was in place no one would return her call. Its been months and still noone will return her call. She isn't a bridezilla is just an after party for her sorority sisters and her husbands college friends and some family.....apparently they don't want her money or the revune that 50 people will bring in, without any advertising.
The managment needs to get their act together on event planning, its not that difficult. Any venue should be able to work with this, its good buisness and money in their pockets.
I have been to Valentinos many times.
The place is one of the bigger clubs in town. The service usually is ok, the waitress come around with the shots enough. The dress code is strict, you can't wear a dress hat (what the hell). They are super picky about sneakers as well even if they are clean. However a female can get in wearing anything, and unlike minneapolis the females don't dress (nor look) up to par. Sometimes its poppin with the crowd, sometimes its not. Last two times I went it was dead as hell. This place is good though if you like top 40 music and big country girls. I like it cost the cover is cheap and its close bye. But the ladies are usually 5 or below
Editorial Review. Gothic nightclub and special events venue boasts two levels and four bars; adjoining Italian restaurant serves dinner nightly.
...Ehh.... This place is kinda stifled. Top 40 music plays and the dance floor is small, drinks watered down. It is a very nice place though (used to be an old mansion), with nice lounge areas and the bathrooms are awesome, and parking is just across the street and free, but--I'd rather pay for parking and more expensive drinks downtown Minneapolis than party here.
