First of all, the service was terrible (there was only one waitress serving around 10 tables). It took her forever to take our order, and we waited a long time for our food. When we got our food, the peking duck was really dry and bland. It was a rip-off, considering how expensive it was (around 35 dollars). We also ordered a vegetable dish but it was nothing memorable. The owner is also very intrusive and kind of rude. When we asked the waitress for more tea, she overheard and commented "Wow, you guys must really like tea." It made us really uncomfortable to ask for refills of tea and rice. Overall, I felt like this restaurant was a waste of money, would not recommend it.
Horrible. Horrible service and horrible food. Owner is not friendly and son who waitors is bad, food gets brought to wrong table and wait is long for not so good food. Try honk kong noodle in mpls way better!!!!
Great authentic chinese cuisine, friendly service. I really enjoy visiting China Jen. My wife and I go for lunch with our 1 yr old and the service is always really friendly and helpful. The food is excellent. Try the steamed bao (soup dumplings), the best I've ever had, then order an authentic entree from their menu. You'll leave very satisfied. While not one of their specials, I often have the crispy beef. With the perfect amount of spice and crunch I devour it with pleasure every time.
Just say no. I hate to be negative. Especially with independent restaurant owners. This place has awful food and I would not go back!! Also, while nice, the owner was a bit awkward and intrusive. It made me uncomfortable to converse with her.
Best Chinese in Roseville. I've tried many Chinese restaurants in Roseville and nearby in St. Paul, looking for the best takeout. Once I tried China Jen, I found what I'd been looking for. They have a great menu, fast and friendly service, and every item I've ordered has been delicious. I love the Singapore noodles (you can specify how spicy you like them and they get it right) and the General Tso's chicken is also a good choice. Frankly, I don't think you can go wrong with the menu.
One of the Best Authentic Chinese Restaurants in town!.
There are not too many good authentic Chinese places in the Twin Cities. When China Jen opened early 2006 in Roseville we tried it pretty soon after they opened. In the North suburbs there are no Chinese restaurants worth going to within 10 miles. We were hesitant, but tried it anyway and were thoroughly surprised. The owner/chef had worked at one of the other authentic Chinese restaurants and opened China Jen with his wife and family.
We've been many times since they've opened and the food is usually great. The key is to order authentic dishes off the menu and some of the specials they offer. The lunch buffet is decent but the selection is pretty small.
Although the service is not the greatest, the prices are reasonable and the place is clean and convenient.
If your looking for good authentic Chinese food, this is one of the few places in the Twin Cities and the only one near the north suburbs.
