I enjoyed it..
Atmosphere was calm, food was good, the two owners were friendly. It seems like It's just the tow people running the place, both of them experienced chefs in two different kinds of cuisine. I only met the woman, but she was friendly and watching for the needs for the people she was cooking for. I especially enjoyed the samosas, which came with a mint sauce. The shrimp toast was also good.

I love the food here!.
The owners are nice and the food is delicious here. Went off another reviewer and got the pork hoagie. It IS the best in town for sure. The soup was great as was the sweet/sour chicken as were the dumplings. I wish they had a wonton soup and delivery. Be aware, one should call in his order well in advance. Sometimes service is slow for takeout.

Best Hidden Treasure in Minneapolis/St.Paul.
I've been coming to Chindian since it was called East River Market....absolutely the best food there is in the Twin Cities...you can try everything on the menu. It's all great...and the ingredients are fresh and tasty. The service is superb. I always look forward to when I'm in that part of town, I'll definately stop in. Whenever I have friends or family in town...this is the place I'm taking them.

My all time Fav. . ..
My all time favorite restaurant for food, atmosphere, owner, staff; all of it.
From all around "hellos" when you enter to heartful "thanks" when you leave, the experience is just like the best of families. Even sent hot ginger tea home to me when I was ill. (AND now the syrup is available to take home.) From spring rolls to chow fun to and all 14 menu items I've tried - the best of the best. Plus, Nina (owner) always stops for a table side chat.

Extremely slow take-out service.
I called tonight for take-out. After placing my order, I was told that it would take a moment for my food to be ready. I interpreted "a moment" as 15-20 minutes, which is the usual turnaround time for take-out orders at most places. So when I arrived 20 minutes later, I was surprised when I was told again that it would take a moment - especially when I saw (the kitchen is open) that they hadn't even started cooking my orders yet! There were only 3 tables of diners at the restaurant, so it certainly wasn't because they were extremely busy. I finally got my order 40 minutes after I made the initial phone call, and nobody - not even the owner herself who handed me my order - bothered apologizing for the delay. Needless to say that I will never come back again. If you want take-out in a normal amount of time, do not call this place!

update.
The water is fine; turns out water city-wide was funky for a couple of weeks. Todays dish was Tofu Chow Mai Fun and it was very good. The dumplings fine as usual.

so, So, SO good!!!!.
I can not say enough about this little shop. It's just a small, family owned, FANTASTIC restaurant. In my particular opinion, it has some of the BEST food in town! I try to stop once or twice, per week, for the Pork Hoagie (OH MY!!) and the Chicken/Chive Dumplings and usually the East River Fried Rice. While that's a bit on the gluttonous side, it's that good. SERIOUSLY, this is one of the best sandwiches in town; maybe even #1!! I've also tried the soup which is filling, spicy, minty, delicious and the housemade desserts which are fantastic. The ONLY thing I can offer as criticism are the hours are not always ideal as they are not open on Saturday or Sundays.
