This is going to be long but worth the read to understand how unprofessional and disgusting this salon and its owner is!
They are unprofessional, uncaring, rude, tactless --- and this all points to the owner, Rachel.
I’ve had more than one horrible experience with them.
My first experience was about 2 years ago. I was in the middle of recovering from breast cancer surgery and was horribly sick from my medication … but needed to get my hair blown out so I wouldn’t have to think about it for a while. I was doubled over in pain and the owner nor her staff batted an eyelid or as much as asked me if I was okay.
Don’t ask me why I went back but I did about 2 years later. I called on a Saturday to make an appointment and was told none were available but someone would call me back. No one did, so I called back only to be told, “Didn’t I tell you someone was going to call you back?” I decided not to retaliate since the person on the phone sounded young. I chalked it up to inexperience.
A few days later I called back (since no one ever returned my call) and made an appointment for a Thursday evening at 6pm. A few minutes after making the appointment I called to see if the appointment could be moved to 5pm. No one answered the phone so I left a message. The next day no one called me back (AGAIN!) so I called them back but was told the 5pm slot was full. I was fine with this. Later on they called me to see if I would be able to make the 5 pm appointment, but I told them I wouldn’t because I now had a work meeting to attend.
I left for my 6pm appointment that day, arriving in the area at 6 pm. I didn’t make it into the salon until 6:15 because they have no parking spots and I kept circling trying to find one. When I got to the door, it was locked. I called and someone let me in.
A few minutes later Rachel, the owner, walks down the stairs declaring that she couldn’t do my hair because I was late. I said but I tried to get an earlier appointment and you guys said it wasn’t available. She said, “yes, I know there was a mixup but I still can’t do your hair.” I said, “I was actually here on time but it took me 15 minutes to find a parking spot.” She said, “well, I still can’t do your hair.”
I walked out, promising to never return to which this savvy and professional (note my sarcasm) business woman responded “ok” with all the nonchalance she could muster.
To reiterate, this is the most unprofessional hair salon I’ve ever been to in my ENTIRE life. The owner is as rude as they come, as fake as they come, and has no care for or interest in the well-being of any of her customers.
Lights Camera Action! Salon is a professionally managed salon owned and operated by Rachel Black-Johnson. Rachel and the entire staff are dedicated to their trade which is exemplified in their serious approach to helping women grow vibrant and healthy hair. Not only do they take care of your hair during your visit, they also show you how to take care of your hair on a day-to-day basis. This is why they make a noticeable difference. The hair-care experience is very pleasant and that is why so many women choose this salon.
Rachel has been taking care of my hair for the past several months, which was severely damaged by other stylists. So far, my hair is getting back to a healthy condition and I believe it is going to grow like I want it to. Rachel uses quality products and I endorse her enthusiastically. If you are unhappy with your current stylist, I strongly encourage you to visit this salon. I will be posting my hair progress online.
I have been a client of Lights, Camera, Action for about 8 years. Not only have I been a client, I've entrusted Rachel with my (now) 18-year-old daughter, to the exemplary hair care routine LCA has repeatedly demonstrated. You ask WHY I've entrusted Rachel with my hair? The answer is very simple....Rachel is very dedicated to her her work as a hair care specialist. Rachel is very compassionate about "Hair Care." You will NEVER see, "quick weaves, freeze curls, jerry curls, or any other crazy hair style," leaving Rachel's salon. At LCA, the clientele is very professional and we care about our image of professionalism. After reading some of the negative comments that were stated in some of the aforementioned "tips" section, I felt compelled to leave my overall, personal experience about this business. Unfortunately, everyone isn't looking for the same hair care experience with their hairstylist. If you are looking for anything other than professionalism, hair CARE, HEALTHY hair, no DRAMA, and a compassionate hair stylist.......then LCA is not the place for you.
I have been coming to Lights Camera Action Salon for 5 years and I am always impressed each time step foot in this business. Rachel was able to get my damaged hair healthy in a matter of months. I recommend coming here because it isn't just a hair salon to me it's like a second family. It is a very affordable price and you can even get the Keritan treatment here. It is one f those salons you will always be loyal too.
AVOID THIS HORRID, HORRIBLE SALON !!!!! – MY ORIGINAL POST IS NOT HERE -- SO
I'VE RE-POSTED ANOTHER REVIEW:
LIGHTS CAMERA ACTION is
THE WORST SALON Ever !!!
TURN-OFF THE LIGHTS;
PUT-DOWN THE CAMERA.
& RUN-LIKE-THE WIND
THE LIGHTS- CAMERA-ACTION
THANK YOU LCA! Check them out! – Lights Camera action is the best salon I've found so far in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area! I have had nothing, but good experiences in this salon when it comes to my hair.
Rachel is the go to girl. She is the only master stylist in the salon, but I think that is because every time someone sees her do someone's hair, they just have to get their time in her chair! I've been to the salon before and had another stylist do my hair and I do not remember her name. Though her job was okay, I just had to find a way to come back and get my spot in the book under Rachel's name!
Rachel has an assistant, Erica, who I find to be quite hilarious at times and add a sense of joy to the salon. LOL! Also, a new assistant has just been added by the name of Deja. She is grand. My scalp has never been cleaner! You can also find her family, husband and kids, helping out around the salon! I love the family atmosphere!
Rachel books up fast some Fridays and always Saturday, so book wisely!
Though the salon does not offer nails yet, but they are expecting to in the future. I see nothing, but new and great things to come. Rachel and LCA are so great at sending a bi-monthly email out to customers to keep them updated and offer great deals!
Most important, they do all types of hair, I just would like to thank them for keeping my African American hair right and tight! l feel so beautiful! (4 stars)
With love and peace!
