Hopkins >Grand City Buffet
Bad Food/Rude service. I chose to go here for my birthday dinner. Had been once before quite awhile ago and really liked it the last time. From the moment we got there, we were sat at a dirty table and before we could take off our coats, the waitress demanded our drink orders. We asked if she could clean off the table and she just rolled her eyes, ignored our request and walked away. Trying to not let her poor service ruin the evening we proceeded to the buffet. Long story short, the food was not at all appetizing as I had remembered. Most item trays were either empty or clearly hadn't been changed the whole day. I guess we were lucky to get a couple cold crab legs. Any hunger I had was immediately gone(not from eating) and it was difficult to find something appetizing to "fill up" on. We left very disappointed and unsatisfied and will definitely NEVER comeback. AWFUL!!!
Don't go. This was are second visit and the first time we went was great. This time was horrible the crab legs were cold and under cooked. They took no immediate interest in fixing the problem until the 4th time. They weren't on top of re filling the food and the service was poor. While we were there other people were complaining about other food items. There salad choices consisted of lettace. I would recommend going to another buffet and saving your money on cold old food.
Going downhill recently!. Our family has dined here for many years. During the last two years we have noticed that they will often run out of/not offer popular items like crab, yellow custard cakes, longan fruit, lychee fruit, and dumplings. I agree completely with the previous posters about the bad manager and sweeping the dust up ... we've experienced both on 1/1/2010. When I requested that the manager take a couple bucks off the bill because we didn't get any crab he basically said, "too bad" ... I was shocked! On top of that it is $16 per person with a pop and tax now! We won't be going there again ... there are cheaper places that are just as good elsewhere (like King's Buffet in Burnsville). And where did the cheerful sister manager go, the one that would occasionally entertain guests by singing? No wonder there's never a line to get in anymore!!
Old Food. I took my family to the buffet because a friend of mine recommended it. I was there on Sunday, 8-9-2009, at noon. My wife and father both felt the food was possibly left over from the previous night because almost everything tasted old. There was one dish (marinated crab dish?) that appeared to be fresh but the rest was pretty horrible. The seafood was rubbery and hard. I have never posted a restaurant review before but feel compelled to do so because I am so disappointed and don't want others to experience what I did. I love Chinese buffets but this was the worst one I have visited. They also charge extra for soft drinks. The servers were polite and attentive, however, I will never visit this buffet again.
best buffet in Twin city. Of all the Chinese buffets I had gone to, I would definitely recommend this one. They have sushi, Chinese food, American food, salad bar, fresh fruits, ice cream, bubble tea and etc. There are a lot of seating but it gets crowded on weekends. Also the price is great.
Lol, great buffet. I've gone there a couple times, and I like the food. There's some vegetarian and even vegan (I think) friendly stuff. I Love the tofu they have there, and the desserts are really good. :) There's also lots of fruit you may not be able to get a taste of at your normal buffet, which I find rather amusing. When walking up to the fruit section one night, I saw a rather furry looking fruit. After making sure it wasn't a animal of some kind, I tried it. It tasted like windex cleaner, but there were a lot of people who liked it, so that was good. The staff has been quite friendly when I've been there, so I have nothing rude to say about them. If you steer away from the times where the food may not be fresh, or a waitress/waiter would be stern with the customers I find the place to have a rather balanced energy. I also love the cute little koi fish and goldfish in the little pool thingy in the front of the store. They're quite fun to watch. :D
Watch out for PRICE CHANGE WHILE EATING!. I have been going to this restaurant for years and was very sad to see how management chose to treat several customers on my last visit. While dining around 3 pm on a Saturday, I saw the waiter harassing several tables of guests. He was telling them that they had taken dinner food. Every table apologized and asked what to do... offering to give the waiter the plates of food. Each time the waiter backed away. At time of leaving, each table was charged an additional $5 per guest for taking dinner food. The Manager refused to listen to all of the guests and said they should just eat more food. He stated that he had a business and that everyone should know that you do not eat the dinner food. Ummm... it is a BUFFET!! I do not trust this restaurant anymore after witnessing this treatment to multiple guests. I just watched in disbelief as the manager demanded payment from each guest. WOW!
Best chineese food in twin cities for a buffet!. Over 50 choices of prepared foods and then there is the mangolian style of preparing your own choices. Sushi bar is excellent. Best I have eaten in twin cities. Beautiful atmosphere and staff is very curtious. Plenty of parking. Good location for shopping & groceries. Prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant if you like variety in Asian foods. The Jasmine tea is to die for. They also have a few American prepared dishes for those of you that need them.
Restaurant. The food is good, However, if you come in after 8pm, they took a long time for the sea food to come out and most of the food there seem are not fresh anymore. They close at 10pm and they should keep making the food until they are close. Another thing, around 9pm, waiters and waitress started to sweep the floor, both in the food area and tables, making the dirty dust everywhere. Don't take me wrong, I like the food there, the staff is very nice. However, I will go there again, just not after 8pm.
Best chinese buffet ever!!. I will not go to any other chinese buffet. I've had lunch and dinner here before. Lunch was good but dinner is awesome. They have such a great selection and the staff is really nice. The first day I ate there they sang Happy Birthday in Chinese to someone who was celebrating their birthday at the restaurant. Like I said best buffet ever, I have not found a better one.
