What People Are Saying About Blarney Pub and Grill

In Short – By day, this Dinkytown pub could be mistaken for the U of M cafeteria--full of students cramming for exams over waffle fries. But by night, the numerous food and drink specials draw the just-out-of-college crowd for some budget-friendly, after-work revelry. The dart boards, pool table and jukebox lend to the tavern vibe. Yet the fireplace, comfy leather sofas and copper-top bars provide the perfect background when acoustic bands play on Friday and Saturday nights.
Okay for college kids

I've gone here for both dinner and for a night out. Dinner was definitely a better experience, but it didn't make it a good one.
This place is catered toward jock college types, which should be obvious based on location, but I guess I was hoping they'd be friendly to an "outsider."
Weekend nights, this place is packed. It's full of loud, obnoxious college kids and you can't hear the person next to you shouting into your ear. Some of the drink specials are alright, but nothing to write home about.
When we went for dinner, it was just two of us and it was relatively quiet. The food was okay and we got plenty of it. However, the waitress was rather inattentive and seemed bored the whole time, except when she was flirting with the boy who was waiting for her in the lounge area. It was obvious that it was the end of her shift and she had already checked out.
I know there are a lot of people who like this place, but you really have to fit the stereotype to even be comfortable there.
As for me? I won't be going back.
- Pros: cheap drinks sometimes
- Cons: mediocre food, waitstaff okay, environment not the greatest
Good times

Blarney is one of the bars on campus with the best atmosphere. The servers and bartenders are nice and willing to help, and not to mention easy on the eyes. Big portions of food for dinners, great breakfast, awesome lunch specials (mainly soups and sandwiches) and good deals at night.
However they do not do much advertising of their specials, I think if more people knew all the fun stuff, like Thursday night Karaoke, Day Rate Wings on Wednesdays (Oct.1 - 1 cent wings), live music, and 2 for 1 anything for ladies on Saturday, they would draw a lot more business.
- Pros: Atmosphere, good for families and college kids, lots of outdoor space
- Cons: Parking
Great Bartenders and Food

I have been to Blarney three times now, as I am not from the area. During dinner I had great food and the server was gorgeous and sweet. We came back that night and it was packed. We thought it would take a half hour to get a drink like it did at the other campus bar down the road, but we got it in less than five minutes every time. The bartenders are incredible! The next time my friends and I were in the area we went back in and got the same great service. Great food and amazing bartender service! I highly recommend everybody check this place out!
- Pros: Bartender and Burgers
- Cons: Tough to find parking if you don't take a cab
The Details on Blarney Pub and Grill
On the Menu:
The menu offers more than just typical bar grub in the way of gourmet burgers (like the Blarney burger: stuffed with basil, thyme and gorgonzola) and sage-stuffed pork chops. And no joke, they serve Lucky Charms cereal for breakfast.
What to Drink:
The traditional Irish specialties like fish-and-chips and bangers and mash taste great with the draft Guinness.
