So much fun!!. We are out of towners and we just happened to go into bootleggers thinking we would have a drink and leave, but we ended up staying all night!! The staff was so nice and very accommodating. They mixed the drinks good, and they had good drink specials for everyone. The dance floor was not huge but they played good music and we had a lot of fun. We will definitely go back the next time we are in town!
eh. its worse than a high school house party, once in a while you can have fun but most of the time its like ehh
Shady Business Operation.
So I was up at Bootleggers running a tab between myself and five other friends/co-workers. Nothing too crazy, just a low key night and I decided to pick up the tab because it wasn't a problem. Anyways, it gets time to bar-close and I'm getting ready to pay the tab and management pulls me aside.
They tell me there was a minor problem and a manager was on their way to clear things up. Finally a manger informs me that "they'd accidentally lost my card by giving it to the wrong individual" but not to worry because the person that they gave it to was a "regular". Uhh, okay... Like that makes it any better. So immediately I'm thinking A) Did my card get scanned "accidentally" too? B) How do they know the person they accidentally gave it to was a regular? C) What kind of bar is this?
Obviously I wasn't too happy but, accidents happen and I didn't want to look like a donkey in front of my co workers. They ended up erasing my tab which was cool and we swapped numbers so they could give me a call when something comes up with my card. Cool. So just to be safe I cancel my card that night. Good thing I did.
The next morning I get a call from an employee saying "you're card is safe we have it now and you can come pick it up X day at X time" So I'm thinking atleast my card is safe now. WRONG.
Then, I call my bank to tell them it's okay to turn my card back on. Everything looked good until he checked my account activity and informed me that someone attempted to use the card. At first I was thinking it was probably the "regular" attempting to use my card so I'm glad they know this person. But no, the banker tells me the card was attempted to be used AFTER the employee had called me telling me they had my card in their posession.
Anyhow I'm running out of characters. This was unreal. I have lived downtown for quite a while now and have never expereinced anything like this, and we go out quite often. I won't be going back. Neither will any of my friends.
Terrible Customer Service. It was 20 below and I lost or had my purse stolen. Not only were they not willing to help they would not let me back into the bar because I didn't have my id. I explained to the bouncer that my purse was either stolen or lost right inside the door but he did not care- he left me outside. This bar was just like every other Minneapolis bar with bouncers who think they should be jerks because they are given too much power. I read the reviews before I went so I was expecting a lot more. I got nothing but left in the freezing cold without money. I was not impressed at all. I am in the service industry and this bar gets the worst rating for service. There is no one willing to help which shows me how the business is run. You know what is important to the owners/managers by their service and this rates a zero. I would not recommend it.
Oh what fun!!.
This is somewhat of a rogue review, but I just want to share my experience- maybe it'll help someone!
I went here with a group of approximately 15 friends on New Years Eve 2007. Ladies paid $75 for open bar/buffet- guys paid $100. Maybe we were just elated because of the holiday, but we all had a great time!! Sure, it was pricey, and the buffet reminded me of a high school graduation party, but this is all arbitrary, since NYE was a special occassion.
Comments on the bar- loved the outdoor patio! Shelter on all sides, heat lamps, bartenders outside!! It was fabulous! Bar was crowded, but not overly. Bartenders were great! Music was...well....a little odd. DJ made some interesting choices. House, with some classic rock and 90's rock twists. The live band (which I hear play here quite a bit) were very good, played some fun covers. Overall, a great experience- will definately try it on a non-holiday night.
New favorite bar in Mpls!. The other review is dead on. It's a nice change from the Lodge Bar that goes out of style more every year you're out of college ....at an exponential rate. This place has something for everyone- dance floor, tv's, pool tables and other bar games, decent drink prices and a better mix of people than some places that may have already been mentioned. It can get really crowded but it's worth it..... it has my new favorite bar award!
Downtown bar gives sports fans a place to gather and celebrate their favorite team..
This downtown tavern is an upgrade from a keg party. Plasma TVs are mounted on the brick walls as well-groomed ESPN devotees stand around the marble bar, waiting for their steins to be refilled. On weekends, those who can tear themselves from the screens enjoy the sleek wooden dance floor as cover bands play on the small stage. The party continues in the upstairs lounge with more TVs, darts, billiards and arcade games.
Slighty more mature than The Lodge. If you have gone to the Lodge and felt like the senior at the freshman prom--try Bootleggers. It's a lot like the Lodge in terms of live entertainment, and things to actually do while drinking besides dancing (like playing pool). It gets pretty crowded, but you can still get around without some wasted Laguna-beach wanna be spilling their redbull vodka all over you. The bartenders are also very prompt with drinks--which is always important! Also if you are a smoker, there is a whole outside area in back with tables.
