Rude waiters. The ambiance is nice, the wine was good, but when my hangar steak arrived, it looked like a piece of dung on a plate. I ordered it medium rare, and it was well done. I pointed out the error, and I was surprised at how quickly they fixed it, yet whn the corrected order arrived, they missed a detail... the meat was fetid. I mean it stunk like it had sat in the warm sun for days....It looked like dung, it smelled like death.

It was disgusting.

Never ever ever going back their again.

My gosh. They are so lucky I did not actually eat that meat, or the welld done portion.

It may have been a freak accident. Yet if I were managing the place, I would make certain, that there controls in effect to never serve rotten meat to a customer.

Otherwise, it seemed like a pleasant place to visit for a nice glass of wine. Yet fetid meat is not the memory I want to remember the most in spite of the ambiance.

Consistently Excellent Experience. I really can't say enough good things about this restaurant. It has a casual atmosphere, but romantic. It is very clean which can be taken for granted until you go somewhere and experience otherwise. The best gnocci I've ever had. Scallops were mouth watering. However, my favorite is they're short rib burger which is comparable to Vincent, but it has gruyere cheese, frisse lettuce and an amazing sauce. Warning, do not order this burger unless you want the best burger you've ever had! Every dish also comes with a side of fresh vegetable or a starch. They also use products from local farmers. The service is always friendly and accomodating. Also a plus is the fact that it is a great date place, dress up or in jeans. You will get the same friendly service. The staff has a great respect for Chef Adam. Chef Adam will do whatever it takes to make sure that he exceeds your expectations. This group doesn't miss a beat, water service, bread, wine expertise, it is consistent. I have never waited for a table more than a moment. The prices are competitive, if not pleasing compared to other mid to upscale type restaurants. An excellent value for a consistently positive experience.

Great, quiet, good food, and wonderful service.. Levain is a great spot to take your date on her birthday, valentines day or any other special day. Moderate prices and great food. I had the short rib, it was fantastic. Also, I would strongly recommend the chocolate cake with hazelnut. The service was great, no rushing or bustling around. I would recommend it to everybody.

The old Levain restaurant has been transformed to a more wallet friendly, but still tasty establishment featuring classic bistro fare.. In Short
Though changes have been made to the decor, new wall paneling for example, the most notable changes are with the food. Chef Eric Sturtz's menu features French bistro fare such as mussels swimming in a delicious cream broth, mouth-watering beef short ribs, sweet caramelized Brussels sprouts, and other tasty dishes at prices under 20 bucks. Save room for desert, Cafe Levain's pastry chef makes some of the best treats in town--the creme brulee is some of the best in the city.
