Editorial Review for Spill the Wine – by Erin Altemus

In Short
Original brick walls, hardwood floors and floor-to-ceiling windows provide a modern, upscale atmosphere with skyline views in a remodeled theater-district building. Business workers seek the bistro-style lunch fare of Cobb salads and specialty pizzas, while theater crowds peruse a heartier menu of skillet-seared sea scallops and herb-encrusted pork chops. Forty wines by the glass and 120 by the bottle offer choices from Argentina to South Africa. Can't decide? Belly up to the tasting bar and choose a flight from two lists.

I attended their Mother's Day brunch and left very dissapointed and ripped off. The food was cold and mediocre - bland eggs, hard croissants and cold potatoes. Selection was very limited. I am especially irritated I paid 9 bucks for the worst sparkling wine I have every tasted. HInt - please filter your water. It tastes disgusting. We got stuck in the back room away from all the atmosphere even though we made reservations weeks in advance. I would not recommend this place.

We decided to visit Spill the Wine for Mothers Day brunch because I'm always game for trying something new. We were seated right away, but from there it went down hill. It took well over 10 minutes for us to get silverware and the service overall was incredibly slow. They had long lines for the self serve buffet and the first two times we went up the french toast was completely wiped out with no sign of more coming out. They served the basics...french toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, ham and it was "ok" at best. They had another line with salad, breads and a few kinds of bars which were all awful. They also had made to order omelettes which took a long time to get and I couldn't even eat mine. The prices were really good but the bad service, mediocre food and inability to manage the influx of people at the buffet was a downer. Mothers were also supposed to get Gerberer Daisies and my mother-in-law and I didn't get one offered to us. We won't go there again.

Pros: pricing

Cons: service, food
