Chicago in Minnesota!.
Yes! If you like Chicago food, eat here. Nuf said!
Everyone knows you DIP your Itallian Beef and Drag your dog through the park! Oh yum, Best food I've found since moving here from Morton Grove, IL. If you're looking for Swedish Meatballs, keep driving, this isn't for you.
Poor Service. My wife and I arrived went in and looked at the menu to deicde what we wanted and we finally decided but the guy would not take our order! Not kidding! My wife stood in front of the cash register for 10 minutes and he would not even acknowlege her. There were 3 people working not even 1 other person in the place but yet he seemed too busy to take our order. OOOOOH Whoopee he took 1 little phone order the whole time we were there. When we said we had enough and were walking out he didn't even notice. What a slouch to have behind your counter.
Solid Food...Great Pizza. I'm a huge fan of the "Sicilian" style pizza here. I've tried a few other menu items like the hot dogs and italian meat sandwiches and it has all been pretty good. Good prices. Would be nice if they took credit cards.
Hard to Find Chicago Style Food.
Usually good Chicago Style food, but not always. Sometimes it isn't so great. Like today, I asked them not to dip my Italian Beef sandwich in the au jus - but they did it anyway. It was a to go order and by the time I got home - it was completely mush! I had to throw the bread away and I love that Gonella bread soooo much. You just can't find Gonella bread around here. They I opened up my bag of onion rings. I had exactly 8 onion rings and it cost $4.79 ?!?!?! Gee, that seems a bit skimpy.
I have to say that there have been times when it has been absolutely excellent. I don't know if it was because Chris was right there or if it is because some restaurants tend to go downhill after they first open up. I hope not, their food can be really great.
Sweet Home Chicago!.
This is about the only place you can even get an Italian Beef sandwich on Gonella Bread just like on the south side of Chicago. I love the way they've got the place all fixed up. And I'd just about die for the Matt Suey jersey that's mounted on the wall.
The food is true Chicago, but I have noticed the food quality fluctuates a little. When Chris is there, it is great!
Sure would be nice if they got some Canfields Swiss Cream Soda or 50/50 - then it would really feel like the old neighborhood...
