although these folks are very overpriced, they do good work. Jeremy P was the man that did our work, he has no real say in what they charge. But you must understand that you only get what you pay for. He not only fixed the leaks, he showed up with a bunch of Ratt lps, made us some killer omelets, shoveled our walk and apparently shops at that duluth place, cause there were absolutely no bare cracks. Nice work and no more puddles. Round and Round.
Overpriced! An induction motor that retails for ($150-$175) plus one hour of work (by a very courteous and friendly repairman) costs $882. Wow!
Don't believe the positive reviews;
they are mostly all provided by a 3rd party review boosting firm.
Two years ago we needed a new furnace and after getting a few bids, we went with St. Paul PHA even though it was a higher price mostly because of the great online reviews and the old Kent Hrbek ads.
The furnace and air worked ok at first, but one year later (last year), our air did not work at all and in fact was leaking water everywhere. Again, with the postive reviews and with the fact that they installed our system, we had them out to find out the issue. They charged my about $100 to come out and tell me to leave it off for 24 hours to melt my block of ice. I had to call them up again to come out and fix the issue. They informed me that my coolant was low. I explained that it was a new install and that they had done the install. Instead of searching for a leak, the con artist they sent out told me that it was probably low because some teenage kid must have huffed our coolant!?! Really? We don't have any teenage kids in the neighborhood and our back yard opens to the woods. I've never seen anyone back in the woods at all.
They cleaned the system and filled my coolant. The labor involved worked out to about $500 per hour. I was blown away when the tech was done so quickly and was really upset that he wouldn't at least look for a leak. Afterwards, I was so frustrated that i really couldn't understand how this firm could have such a high online review score.
I too looked at the 5-star reviews and something didn't seem right. If you click the reviewer, you can see the other companies that they have reviewed. Click on a couple of these reviews and you too will see that most of these 5-star reviews are written by the same exact people that have written reviews of Bonfe's, Becker Furniture World, Borton Volvo, and dozens more. The reviews are clearly written by a 3rd party review boosting firm.
A company that provides great service will have good reviews without being sleazy. Do you really want to consider hiring a firm that would post fake reviews? Please avoid these scammers and con artists and go with another company.
False 5 Star Reviews?? Really??. I was searching for a heating company and came across St Paul Plumbing and heating. When you click on the name of the person who left the review above the 5 star rating it shows you other reviews that person left. I was shocked to see all these reviews look made up. The same 5 Star people keep reviewing Dean’s Plumbing, Pronto Heating, St Paul Plumbing, and Becker Furniture World. Why would a company make up positive reviews? How could you trust a service company in your home with low ethics like this? How sad of a business practice this must be?
Charlatans and liars.
I called this company for two problems: a leaky garbage disposal and slow bathtub drain (a child's toy had gone down it and needed to be retrieved). The guy they sent out was prompt and polite, but turned out to be a charlatan. He opened the cupboard under the sink, waved his flashlight around, and pronounced somberly, "It's shot. You'll have to replace it." Upstairs, he didn't even ask about what was blocking the drain, just made sure I had old pipes, informed me the trap was illegal (!) and said I needed a new one installed. All for the low price of over $1200.
I paid the $68 dispatch fee, did a little online search and discovered that the disposal needed a screw tightened. Meanwhile the bath toy made its way through the pipe. Problems solved with five minutes' work and no money spent.
Bottom line: they don't want to solve your problems; they want to make as much $$ as possible off your ignorance. Unfortunately there's no way to give them zero stars.
No Bid????. The woman on the phone was very nice, however, this company will not even provide estimates. We just bought a home and have a rather large job but will not be using them as they are unwilling to even give a bid!
very knowledgable. Your representative was very knowledgable and we will request him for next year's check up. Thank you!
