This place is great!. I have been a fan of this place since they were located on University Avenue. Sad that they broke up. But her new location inside the global market is really nice. I am very happy for her.
Terrible food, will not return. Terrible, terrible, terrible. One of us ordered curry chicken with rice and beans and plantains, the other got (for some reason citysearch won't let me type the name of the chicken dish) chicken with yams and also plantains. The beans were undercooked, and they were out of the curry so they substituted oxtail. There was hardly any meat at ALL on the oxtail, and the j e r k chicken was nothing but bony wings. The bill came to nearly 30 dollars and hardly anything was edible. Also, I've had ginger beer many times before, and whatever the hell they served up, was NOT ginger beer. It wasn't even carbonated. Will not ever return.
This Midtown Global Market hot spot is famous for its chicken curry..
In Short
Amid the hustle and bustle of the Midtown Global Market sits the sunshine-y, palm tree decorated West Indies Soul Food, right across from its ocean-loving, Mexican neighbor, La Sirena Gorda. That's right. At the Midtown Global Market, the Mexican Baja is so close to the Caribbean shore it can shake its hand. At this spicy joint, chicken is served up sizzling, Cajun, curried and jerked. Rip tips, snapper, goat and ox come soaked, slathered, sprinkled and stewed with sweat-inducing spices so hot and tempting, they're addictive. Finish up with dessert, like the sweet and gooey peach cobbler.
