In Short – Afton State Park's trails plunge into deep ravines and climb up ridges for great views of the St. Croix River. The park offers paved trails for biking as well as bridle trails. The fishing is excellent, too: Catch walleye, silver and smallmouth bass and sauger from riverbank or canoe. While you're hiking, keep your peepers skyward: The river valley here offers some of the best birding in the state.
