Editorial Review for Thorwood Bed & Breakfast – by Gayot.com

The Scene
The fine river town of Hastings is proud of this 1880 treasure. The inn is listed on the town's local historic registry, as well as on the National Register of Historic Sites. It is just 25 miles from the Twin Cities and yet resides in a pretty, natural setting. Although Hastings is best known for its location on the Mississippi, it is also notably framed by bluffs that create a cliff for a spectacular waterfall.

The Details
The innkeepers and staff strive to make your stay memorable. Indulgences include cozy reading retreats, evening snacks and a crackling fireplace. The private baths have oversized showers, old-fashioned claw-foot tubs or double Pearl whirlpools--some even have all three, and all boast fluffy towels the size of sheets. Air conditioning is a bonus during hot Midwest summers. Breakfast is generous and hearty.

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

So many small details made our stay perfect. The innkeeper helped make everything a suprise birthday for my husband. Prepared everything before he got there. From dinner to putting our things in our room ahead of time. She gave us thetour of the whole house not giving away the surprise until we got to our room. We had the whole attic! Mississippi was the coolest, biggest, coziest room I have ever stayed in. The hot tub the skylights, the breakfast in bed! If only we could have stayed 2 nights. More reason to go back. My favorite part? The journals in the room. You can read about each persons experiences and add your own. The book claims that there is a secret door in the room which we have not found yet

Pros: Cheap during the week, snacks at night, Friendly accomodation
